The primary purpose of the nurse practitioner (Surgical APC) is to practice to the full extent of their education, training and certification, without the clinical supervision or mandatory collaboration of physicians, as a licensed independent practitioner to provide specified medical or other patient care service. The Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) supports the Nurse Manager with supervisory duties and responsibility and accountability for the 24/7 operation of their designated units. They provide coverage for other ANM's as needed. The ANM has responsibility and accountability for the direction and supervision of specific orientation, training, development of staff, and provides input input into the evaluation of individual staff performance.

Positions are being recruited in both Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks including positions in the Lodgepole, Grant Grove and Cedar Grove Subdistricts.

EMTs will be assigned ambulance duty, responding as the initial provider for most EMS calls. EMTs will request assistance from other trained personnel as necessary. The park employs approximately 25 permanent rangers who have certifications ranging from EMT to Paramedic. The parks respond to roughly 350 calls annually ranging from first aid to advanced life support. EMTs respond to roughly ten fatal incidents each year. EMTs will conduct appropriate patient assessment, make a transport decision, and work within established NPS Protocols under medical control. EMTs will make base hospital contact via phone and radio patch. Patient care will be documented appropriately in the field to allow for electronic reporting after the call. EMTs will keep supplies stocked and notify their supervisor when supplies need to be ordered. Ambulances will be cleaned and organized for effective response. Equipment will be decontaminated and cleaned after every call. EMTs will plan, prepare for, and execute EMS training for local responders. EMTs may conduct other emergency services operations with appropriate certifications including Search and Rescue, structural and wildland fire, extrication, and visitor services. The parks respond to roughly 150 SAR incidents a year, with a handful of them requiring technical rescue. EMTs will be responsible to respond as directed to manage foot and vehicle traffic in congested areas. EMTs may be assigned project work during slow periods or intermittent down time.

Housing: Available rental housing units may include tent cabins, mobile homes, apartments, or traditional houses and housing/rooms will likely be shared with other employees, interns, volunteers, etc. Units may be rustic, located in wilderness areas, with few if any modern conveniences. Pets (other than service pets) and overnight guests are not allowed; units are to house assigned employees only.

The Social Work Program Coordinator (SWPC) has responsibility for the day-to-day operations of SUD Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Programs serving Veterans with Substance Use Disorder (SUD) and those dually diagnosed with serious mental illness (SMI), Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), and traditional outpatient services. These programs provide specialized clinical care to Veterans with a wide range of SUDs, many with other co-occurring mental health and/or medical conditions. Provision of substance use services is complex, with Veterans moving between varied levels of care as clinically appropriate. The SWPC ensures Veterans receive individual, case management, and group interventions from multidisciplinary team members. The SWPC ensures multidisciplinary team members implement and facilitate approximately 50 educational and therapeutic group interventions each week for the purpose of providing comprehensive, recovery focused clinical interventions for the purpose of treating Veterans. The SWPC works with key internal and external stakeholders to ensure the transition of Veterans moving across varied levels of care from inpatient, incarcerated, and outpatient settings.

Responsibilities include implementation of evidence-based programs; development of local policies, procedures, and protocols to enhance treatment programs and professional staff performance; systems redesign to improve access, effective and efficient Veteran-centered care; monitoring program outcomes for efficiency and productivity; and space planning for maximal program accommodation.

The SWPC has clinical and administrative responsibility of the daily operations of the Psychosocial Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Program, PRRTP, and the Substance Abuse Treatment Team (SATT) outpatient program. Outpatient and residential programs both utilize the services of a multi-disciplinary staff to provide coordinated, integrated, rehabilitative, and recovery-oriented medical and mental health care to Veterans whose care needs are complex in nature, across multiple locations, some requiring supervision twenty-four (24) hours per day, seven days per week. The SWPC has responsibility of leading a multidisciplinary team including Psychologists, Psychiatrists, APRN's, RN's, Social Workers, Peer Specialists, Registered Dietitian, Vocational Rehabilitative Specialist, Pharmacist, Program Assistants, Nursing Service staff and clinical trainees.
