The Assistant Medical Center Director exercises line authority for multiple administrative and allied health services and sections and is directly responsible for facility operations. Duties include, but not limited to the following:

• Plans, coordinates, supervises, and directs various administrative and health related services.

This is a term appointment not to exceed 1 year 1 day. Major duties and responsibilities include but not limited to:

Manages Clinical Tests and Collects Data

Managing implementation, control and reporting on clinical tests and data collection for difficult clinical research studies
Recording data from samples and specimens to ensure that all tracking data is organized and is monitored during the progress of the study
Coordinating the accomplishment of the scientific review and evaluation of research programs
Participating in initial classification and coding of qualitative/quantitative data and entering coding data into qualitative/quantitative software

This Food Service Worker position is located within the Nutrition & Food Service at the VA Medical Center in Shreveport La.

Major duties and responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

• Sets up and breaks down assigned station with the correct supplies and food items;

Major Duties:

This position provides oversight for a variety of software programs integral to the overall administration, equipment packages, and operations of medical service. Collects physical and data security needs for the service areas. It also is the point of contact for OI&T for information technology initiative for hardware and software needs for the service.

Controls critical applications, (i.e. Clinical Procedures (CP), Home Oxygen, Oncology/OncoTrax, and Clinical Case Registries). Reviews all software upgrades for medical service programs within VISTA. Clinical Duties:

1. Oversight: Clinically supervises the training of Nephrology fellows, residents, and medical students to provide quality patient-centered patient care in inpatient and outpatient settings. Ensures resident documentation, with required documented of supervision of all care by the attending physician, is completed in a timely manner per facility bylaws.
2. Examinations: Evaluates patients by examining thoroughly. Appropriate clinical, laboratory, and other pertinent data is obtained to determine care the patient is provided. Assess needs for renal replacement therapies.
3. Diagnosis: Ability to interpret and evaluate clinical data for the purpose of determining diagnosis and clinical status. Able to manage patients with kidney diseases, including but not limited to Chronic Kidney Disease, electrolyte disorders, glomerulonephritis (both primary and secondary), resistant hypertension, recurrent nephrolithiasis, and renal transplantation.
4. Therapeutic ability: Prescribes appropriate and timely treatment; applies indicated therapeutic procedures; recognizes and assess changes in behavior, symptoms, signs, and other pertinent facts about the patient and modifies the plan of treatment when indicated. Be proficient in various dialysis modalities, including Continuous Renal Replacement Therapies.
5. Effectiveness in Emergencies: The incumbent is readily available in emergencies; and quick in recognizing emergency situations and taking timely necessary action. Able to recognize severe electrolyte abnormalities, toxicities and urgent/emergent need for renal replacement therapy.
6. Patient Management: Develops and maintains rapport and gains the confidence of patients and relatives through competence and interpersonal skills to the end that patients and others are informed participants in the treatment effort. Provide face to face ambulatory care, telemedicine management, and compete electronic consultations for patients with kidney disease.
7. Consultations: Recognizes the need for consultation and utilizing facility or clinic specialty skills in diagnosis and treatment. Response to consultations in a timely manner, documents consultations according to procedure and is actively engaged with the primary team or clinician in collaborating on the patient's care and management.
8. Record keeping: History/physical and other examinations and group learning experiences where on services as the learning facilitator in the role of mentor or teacher for residents, trainees, or employees. Completes all medical record documentation in CPRS in a timely manner. History, physical, and treatment plan are accurate and clearly stated. All ambulatory notes and orders are to be completed and signed on same day. All encounters completed with proper level of service and/or procedure and related diagnosis
9. Participates in education and/or training of the residents, fellows and medical students in ambulatory setting or with inpatient teaching rounds.
