Reporting directly to the Director of Operations
The Associate Director of Operations (ADO) will provide the operational support to the Directorate Triumvirate in conjunction with the Directorate Clinical Director and Associate Director of Nursing. The Triumvirate is accountable and responsible for the management and leadership of the Directorate, including delivery of agreed local and national performance targets and standards (e.g. waiting times, productivity targets and activity levels) within budget and resource availability.
The ADO together with the CD and ADN will take responsibility (within a devolved structure) for the management of the services within their area. This will include leading bids for services and contract negotiations within the Trust’s corporate framework, collaborating with other health care providers to promote innovation and the development of services.

Croydon Health Services provides integrated NHS services to care for people at home, in schools, and health clinics across the borough as well as at Croydon University Hospital and Purley War Memorial Hospital.
CUH provides more than 100 specialist services and is home to the borough’s only Emergency Department and 24/7 maternity services, including a labour ward, midwifery-led birth centre and the Crocus home birthing team. Purley War Memorial Hospital (PWMH) in the south of the borough offers outpatient care, including diagnostic services, physiotherapy and ophthalmology services run by Moorfields Eye Hospital, alongside an onsite GP surgery.

Main duties of the job
You will manage the directorate operationally, working alongside the Clinical Director, Associate Director of Nursing providing leadership to the team of medical Clinical Business Unit leads, senior nursing and AHP leads and other professionals. Reporting to the Director of Operations, your key responsibilities will be as follows:
· Providing visible leadership to our committed staff across the directorate, managing, motivating and supporting team members to enable them to deliver successfully;
· Making quality, safety and safeguarding paramount across the Directorate at every level;
· Ensuring a first-class level of customer service to our patients, so their experience with us is of the highest standard we can achieve;
· Working with clinicians, managers and the other ADOs across the hospital, in the community and with our external partners to deliver continuous improvements through the department and wider healthcare system.
· Developing new systems, processes and ways of working to maximise the benefits of innovation, new technologies and our rapidly improving estate;
· Identifying, managing and reporting on key performance and quality metrics to ensure we are providing safe, robust and resilient services whilst striving to continuously improve; this includes delivery of constitutional standards.
· Working alongside finance colleagues to set budgets and then deliver on them, making decisions around corrective measures throughout the year.
· Ensuring the Directorate has a strategy to deliver safe levels of staffing across its services working with Human Resources and clinical leads.
Successful candidates will be well-organised, resilient and driven to deliver, as well as expert communicators who are able to engage effectively with clinical and non-clinical colleagues alike.
