What Product or Solutions Marketing contributes to Cardinal Health
Marketing is responsible for assessing customer needs, market conditions and competition to inform business strategy. Marketing implements the strategy through commercializing and monitoring the appropriate products and services. Product or Services Marketing is responsible for defining the product/service and market strategy and lifecycle management including customer need identification, market research, product or service offering, pricing, positioning, promotion, branding and distribution to drive customer loyalty, sales growth and improved profitability.
This is an essential product marketing role that is accountable for the execution of essential projects and tactics to deliver against the downstream commercialization strategy for Commercial Tools (including, but not limited to customer portal / website, and decision-driving analytical tools) within the OptiFreight® Logistics marketing team.
The Product Marketing Manager is responsible for working closely with cross functional teams, including Upstream Product Development, FUSE/IT, sales, operations, finance, and pricing, to ensure operational excellence and long-term sustainable growth for the business and the product portfolio. This role is then responsible for thoughtful deployment to impacted field teams and customers in coordination with channel marketing and training. This role is responsible for business management activities including attentive sales and direct customer support, detailed financial comprehension and decision making, and management of new business pipeline in collaboration with the sales team. In addition, marketing strategy activities include product and portfolio messaging, new product launches, competitive positioning, voice of customer research/analysis and customer journey mapping in the pursuit of an exceptional customer experience.
Accountabilities
- Gain strong understanding of how revenue/profit is generated by product lines.
- Execute against portfolio-specific marketing tactics and objectives in alignment with the established strategies for the Commercial Tools portfolio.
- Define the standard for a wholistic sales team onboarding for product portfolio.
- Develop and introduce new user experience for product portfolio with respect to unique customer needs and available technology.
- Proactively gain insights into competitors, their products, pricing, unmet customer needs, and changing industry practices through direct engagement with customers and close collaboration with sales.
- Work with channel partners to launch standard products portfolios and process that meets the unique needs of customer channels to drive penetration.
- Serve as a product expert for assigned in-market products, working with business stakeholders (i.e. operations, product development, carrier relations, etc.) to build expert understanding of product functionality and its role in the broader offering to customers, as well as how the product uniquely meets customer needs and is differentiated in the market.
- Support and motivate sales to communicate unique value to customers, detail features and benefits of product offering, and make pricing decisions in line with the established pricing strategy and tiers.
- Along with cross functional business partners, consistently provide customer insights back to product development counterparts to ensure pipeline of needle-mover improvements to the product portfolio.
- As part of the downstream marketing team, work collaboratively to develop the mechanisms and means to communicate insights gathered from the field to all relevant internal stakeholders.
- Develop confidence for compelling customer-facing engagement as portfolio expert. Customer engagements include, but are not limited to, select strategy/sales meetings and establishing opportunities for product development colleagues to co-create / validate products with customers.
- Monitor customer engagement and compliance to better inform effectiveness of the solutions and ensure results.
- Execute against multi-channel launch plans, marketing, and promotions strategy for new product enhancements / launches and drive growth initiatives for products post-launch, in partnership with channel marketers.
- Build resources, communications, and trainings to enable sales representatives and cross functional business teams to effectively sell the product portfolio across impacted channels.
- Facilitate validation of in market products through user-experience feedback, stakeholder analysis, competitive analysis, and positioning/value proposition.
- Strong ability to influence and work collaboratively with the cross-functional teams mentioned above to help ensure critical work efforts are prioritized with their support as champions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- 3+ years experience in related field
- Familiarity with logistics
- Familiarity with agile methodology preferred
- Experience working independently, using good judgment and leadership abilities to manage short and long-term priorities and projects
- Demonstrates strong financial acumen and logical decision making in the general business environment. Understands and can demonstrate sound thought processes as it relates to pricing, deal structure and assessing financial implications
- Demonstrates basic knowledge of marketing disciplines and concepts necessary for building a business & marketing plan, this includes identifying the appropriate channels to market. Has the ability to understand market trends and competitive positioning and can establish and/or adjust the product offering
- Proficient in mining data and interpreting findings to solve problems and tell a story
- Microsoft Office experience with an emphasis on Excel and PowerPoint
- Excellent verbal & written communication skills
- Maintains a positive attitude with a focus on creative solutions and strong internal partnerships
- Ability to travel up to 10%

Anticipated salary range: $78,500 - $112,100
