Summary of the role



The Business Development Manager role leads on the development of collaborations with industry, organisations and government partners within the BioPharma sector. The post holder will support the Sector Head to deliver opportunities for partnership development and impact in line with Exeter Innovation’s Business Engagement Strategy and the University’s Strategy 2030.



The successful candidate will have the following responsibilities to deliver in the role:



Identify, develop and manage opportunities for income generation from internal and external sources towards the institutional target of £200m in 2030, limiting exposure to risk and maximizing benefits to the University.
Develop detailed market research and insights using specialised data bases, analysis of market trends, government strategy and by networking with external advisors, specialists, consultants, potential customers and competitors.
Develop sustainable partnerships with new and established partners with a view to these partners collaborating and/or funding projects with academics across the research and commercial education portfolios.
Management of up to 7 people. May be responsible for supervising associated resources that form part of flexible, cross-university sectoral teams.
Provide the Exeter Innovation interface with one or more Faculty departments. Work closely with Department Directors of Business Engagement and to develop and deliver the BEI strategy and income targets embedded within Faculty plans.
Undertake the role of relationship manager for one or more Strategic Partners, working with the Corporate Partnership team. In addition, identify and liaise with internal and external sector facing networks and organisations
Support a portfolio of Impact Case Studies aligned to sector specialism, through working closely with the academic leads and Research Services.
Advise and lead on the development of applications for economic development, knowledge exchange research and innovation and commercial education; working with colleagues in Exeter Innovation and other Professional Services.
Development of complex costings (and pricing where appropriate) of projects ranging from £10k - £3MM+ using the systems and resources available in the Division.

The role

• Manage the consignment of radioactive material off site to external treatment/disposal facilities..

Healthcare Account Manager
Plymouth Hospital | Sales & Business Development | Permanent | Full Time

Our Healthcare Account Manager will deliver the hospitals marketing strategy and our charitable purpose. To increase patient referrals from GP's, Physiotherapists, Osteopaths, Corporates, as well as other potential groups. This is a split role between field based and on site of the hospital , with accountability for delivering targeted referrals and revenue across the Nuffield Health portfolio for a defined territory.

As our Healthcare Account Manager, you will:

• Promote Nuffield Health Plymouth Hospital and the Nuffield Health brand consistently across all stakeholders, supporting the implementation of brand values and guidelines using social media, local advertising and local partnerships
• Promote Nuffield Health Plymouth Hospital as the number one hospital of choice for potential patients and employees using social media, internal and external communication methods
• Organise internal and /or external events / conferences / briefings etc. ensuring accurate and complete supporting documentation is produced in a timely and efficient manner
• Build strong professional relationships with all stakeholders (members of the primary health care team, consumers, consultants, corporate clients and colleagues)
• Support & develop a targeted growth referral strategy with revenue targets for selected specialities and consultants which incorporates key audiences such as primary care, physiotherapists, local businesses, potential patients and other target audiences

Clinical To be professional and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of your own work including the management of patients in your care. To ensure a high standard of clinical care for the patients under your management, and support more junior staff to do likewise. Participate in providing a seven day service (Inclusive of bank holidays) for the health care of elderly areas as service provision requires. Maintenance of respiratory competencies is essential due to the acute, complex and unstable nature of the patients. Undertake the assessment and treatment of acutely ill patients with neurological / respiratory/ health problems, who may have a complex presentation and maintain associated records as an autonomous practitioner on a daily basis, including when working on the emergency duty rota. Provide advice to medical and nursing staff and other members of the multi-disciplinary team regarding patients respiratory and chest functions/condition, when working on the emergency duty on-call rota. To interpret and analyse clinical and non-clinical facts to form accurate clinical diagnosis and prognoses in a wide range of highly complex conditions, to recommend the best course of intervention, and to develop comprehensive management plans. To represent the trust externally (locally, regionally and nationally) regarding physiotherapy services provided to patients with complex medical conditions. To undertake the comprehensive assessment of patients, including those with a complex presentation, using investigative and analytical skills, and to formulate individualised management and treatment plans, using clinical reasoning, and utilising a wide range or treatment skills and options to formulate a specialised programme of care and to support junior staff in this work. To accept clinical responsibility for a designated caseload of patients, and to organise this effectively and efficiently with regard to clinical priorities and use of time. To demonstrate highly developed dexterity, co-ordination and palpatory senses for assessment and manual treatment of patients. To participate in working parties developing policy changes within the health care of elderly department at Derriford Hospital, which will impact on all service users. To ensure, as team leader, that designated staff implement policy and service development changes. To work with consultants and head of service in developing the strategic and operational management of the rehabilitation services. To provide spontaneous and planned advice, teaching and instruction to patients/relatives, carers and other professionals, to promote understanding of the aims of physiotherapy, and to ensure a consistent approach to patient care and individual rehabilitation goals. To provide specialist and highly specialist advice to physiotherapy colleagues and MDT working within other clinical areas, regarding rehabilitation. To provide specialist advice, teaching and training to other members of the MDT regarding the management of patients with complex problems. To regularly teach, train, supervise and performance manage more junior staff, technical instructors, assistants and students. This will include the use of formal appraisal documentation. Use an extensive range of verbal and non-verbal communication tools to communicate effectively with patients/carers; to motivate, gain co-operation, to progress rehabilitation and treatment programmes. This will include patients who may have difficulties in understanding or communicating; e.g.: patients may be dysphasic, depressed, deaf, blind or who may be unable to accept diagnosis, or realistic expectations of Physiotherapy intervention. To assess capacity, gain valid informed consent, which must be documented and have the ability to work within a legal framework with patients who lack capacity to consent to treatment. To comply with local confidentiality polices child protection and vulnerable adults procedures. Professional To maintain own clinical professional development (CPD) by keeping abreast of any new trends and developments, and incorporate them as necessary into your work. To be an active member/lead of the in-service training programme by attending and delivering presentations and training sessions at staff meetings, tutorials, training sessions in house and by attending/organising external courses and practising reflective practice. To communicate effectively and work collaboratively with medical, nursing and therapy colleagues at all levels to ensure delivery of a co-ordinated multidisciplinary service. This will include case conferences, ward rounds and discharge planning. To participate in the staff appraisal scheme and Personal Development Plan (PDP) as both appraiser and appraise. To undertake the measurement and evaluation of your work and current practices through the use of Evidence Based Practice projects, audit and outcome measures, either individually or with clinical specialist or manager. Make recommendations for change. To demonstrate a sound understanding of Clinical Governance and Risk Management and apply to work situation. Organisational To be responsible for a designated area of work, as agreed with the Head of Physiotherapy, and to plan and organise efficiently and effectively with regard to patients management and use of time. To decide priorities for own work area, balancing other patient related and professional demands, and ensure that these remain in accordance with those of the section as a whole To be responsible for ensuring the effective selection and use of all treatment resources available both in the department and on the wards. To be responsible for equipment used in carrying out physiotherapy duties, and to adhere to departmental policy, including competence to use equipment and to ensure the safe use of equipment by others through, teaching, training and supervision of practice. To maintain accurate, comprehensive and up-to-date documentation, in line with legal and departmental requirements, and communicate assessment and treatment results to the appropriate disciplines in the form of reports and letters. To be actively involved in the collection of appropriate data and statistics for the use of the department. To be aware of Health and Safety aspects of your work and implement any policies, which may be required to improve the safety of your work area, including your prompt recording and reporting of incidents to senior staff, and ensuring that equipment use is safe. To comply with the organisational and departmental policies and procedures and to be involved in the reviewing, instigating, devising and updating as appropriate. To undertake any other duties that might be considered appropriate by the Head of Physiotherapy or the Therapies Manager.

Integrated Clinical Services Manager

Exeter Hospital | Permanent | Full-time | Includes weekend work

We are looking for a great manager for the Health Assessment and Physiotherapy teams at our bustling Nuffield Health Exeter Hospital site. The role of Integrated Clinical services Manager is to ensure a genuinely exceptional client experience throughout the two teams, covering inpatient & outpatient physiotherapy services and the health screening offerings delivered by physiologists and GPs.

You will be expected to maintain a clinical caseload, to participate in the CPD and in-service training schedule and weekend working where necessary. You will also be involved in marketing and promotion of the department within the local area.

The Role

The hospital is brilliantly placed to support and mentor the successful candidate for this role, alongside our academy training programmes. As Manager you will;

• be expected to manage the Physiotherapy and Health Assessment services within the framework of robust clinical governance, professional standards and the Healthcare Standards Act 2000.

• be responsible for managing the daily operational needs of each team, departmental budgets, health and safety documents and updates, line manage a mixture of employees including GPs, physiotherapists, physiologists, clinical assistants and administrative staff, and strive to achieve all the set key performance indicators. You will oversee any clinical incidents or complaints.

• Ensure regular monitoring and audits of the standards of treatment and services provided.

• be expected to maintain a small clinical caseload delivering high quality and effective care that is evidence based, Safe, Effective, Caring, Well-led and Responsive to our patient's needs. You will contribute as a practising physiotherapist to treat a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions and post operative cases, playing a key role in helping our patients achieve, maintain, and recover to the level of health and wellbeing that they aspire to.

• be expected to participate in the team CPD and in-service training schedule. You will have a personal CPD budget to encourage you to continue your own learning and striving for clinical excellence.

As the leader of two teams you will have peer support available from other hospital Heads of Departments, your Regional Clinical Leads for Physiotherapy, Physiology and GPs, along with strong leadership from the Senior Management team on site.

The Person

You will need to have:

• Proven post qualification clinical experience

• Operational management experience within a healthcare setting is desirable

• Financial management experience within a healthcare setting is desirable

• Significant experience in physiotherapy delivery

• Experience of working within a multidisciplinary team

• Evidence of leadership within a team of health care professionals

• Candidates must be computer literate as we use an electronic patient record system

• Have a BSc in Physiotherapy or equivalent; you'll be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP)

Nuffield Health Exeter Hospital

The Exeter Nuffield hospital is based next to the RD&E hospital in Wonford, Exeter. The hospital has 2 theatres, as well as a hybrid cardiac catheter laboratory/theatre and an Endoscopy suite. There are two ward areas: an inpatient area with 21 beds and a day-case ward with 12 beds. We also have a busy outpatient department, pharmacy, physiotherapy, and radiology department including an MRI scanner. We specialise in elective orthopaedic and spinal surgery, cardiology including invasive procedures, general surgery, plastics and cosmetic surgery, ENT, and gynaecology. The Hospital has a MAKO robot that undertakes some of the joint replacement surgery which we have become well known for in this field of surgery.
