POSITION SUMMARY

POSITION SUMMARY
This position provides leadership in specialty area of clinical nutrition, establishes practice standards and serves as a mentor to educate colleagues in the specialty nutrition area. Must possess the knowledge of nutrition and dietetics demonstrated through the completion of a Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition and/or Dietetics. Must be a Registered Dietitian based on academic and professional requirements as defined by by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) of The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Effective January 1, 2024 CDR requires a minimum of Master's degree to be eligible to take the registration examination. POSITION SUMMARY
This position will work under the supervision of the pharmacist performing routine duties in packaging, distribution, non-sterile compounding, and record-keeping of pharmaceutical supplies. Serves as a liaison between the customer and the pharmacist. Effectively uses pharmacy computer systems to investigate and respond to missing medication requests. CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Identifies medications and other items for reorder as necessary to maintain a continuous inventory of medications and supplies. Receives, checks-in, and restocks medications ordered through the wholesaler and other vendors verifying all quantities against invoices. Assesses practical ways to deal with shorted items and short-dated or unusable items.

2. Manages users within the automated dispensing technology database as per policy. Investigates discrepancies and troubleshoots malfunctions in automated dispensing technology.

Restocks medications to all areas outside automated dispensing technology which may include but not limited to trays, code carts and emergency boxes.
 

5. Compounds non-sterile medication products. Understands and appropriately follows all product worksheets/recipes for documentation and check processes. Understands and adheres to all applicable USP compounding guidelines. Demonstrates knowledge of and consistently performs calibrations of equipment and accurately measures components for compounding. Repackages bulk medications into unit of use packaging. Completes accurate documentation of medications compounded and repackaged per policy.
 

6. Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with all policies, laws, and regulations. Performs quality control activities such as monthly nursing unit inspections and pharmacy section checks in a timely manner. Completes documentation of refrigerator temperatures, and equipment maintenance activities as required.

 

7. Ensures the proper use of garbing and compounding techniques in accordance with policies and has knowledge of basic principles within USP <797> and USP<800>, laws, policies, and procedures that pertain to compounding. Performs compounding and labeling of intravenous compounds and hazardous agents to include chemotherapy using proper sterile and aseptic technique as appropriate to the site of care. Understands the different product lines in sterile compounding (patient specific and non-patient specific batch) and the differences between the various populations (Adult, Pediatric, Neonate). Completes all required environmental cleaning procedures. Documents all required tasks and other information per policy. Understands the safe handling of hazardous drugs and demonstrated the correct receipt, storage, labelling and transport process.
 

8. Handles narcotic medications following all federal and legal requirements as set through policy and procedure. Understands all regulatory requirements for receiving, compounding, repackaging, and distribution for controlled substances. Consistently adheres to all storage and inventory movement documentation requirements for controlled substances.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 

Requires Pharmacy Technician licensure and active Pharmacy Technician certification OR Pharmacy Intern licensure in the state of practice.

POSITION SUMMARY
This position plans daily food production for assigned areas and produces all food items based on information obtained from café menus, catering requests and any other approved source. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Must possess strong knowledge as normally obtained through the completion of a bachelor’s degree in related field, or equivalent combination of relevant education, technical, business and healthcare experience. Must demonstrate substantial knowledge of information technology, healthcare, and/or operations for an assigned specialty area. The Senior Acute Patient Access Services Representative Registers Patients in the Banner MD Anderson Clinic at Banner University Medical Center, ensuring demographics are obtained and entered accurately into registration platforms, insurance verification has been done and accurately documented, patient financial estimates and responsibility given and accurately relayed to patient and/or responsible parties.  All applicable consent forms obtained and captured in system with accuracy. In addition to registering patients the Senior Acute PAS Rep provides support to our new employees and in sharing tasks and duties related to patient access services.

POSITION SUMMARY

This position is the first point of contact at healthcare facilities and assist patients with the administrative aspect of gaining access to medical treatment. This position is in a hospital-based setting which includes Emergency Dept, Inpatient, Obstetrics, Outpatient, etc. Responsible for in person patient intake and registration, providing superior customer service, accurately identifying, and obtaining authorizations patients’ insurance, verifying eligibility and benefits, generating patient estimates for services rendered, financial counseling, and collecting patient liability. Demonstrates the ability to resolve customer issues and provides excellent customer service. This position provides mentoring, training and offers on-going guidance as needed for a Patient Access team. Additionally, Senior Representatives will function as the primary resource/SME for team member workflow questions and concerns.

CORE FUNCTIONS

1. Verifies patient’s demographics and accurately inputs this information into EHR, including documenting the account thoroughly to maximize reimbursement and minimize denials/penalties from the payor(s).

2. Proficiency with multiple services including, but not limited to inpatient, observation, emergency, obstetrics, surgery, imaging. This position may cover services 24/7.

3. Demonstrates a thorough understanding of insurance guidelines for all services. Proficiently verifies, reads, and understands insurance benefits.

4. Demonstrates proficient understanding that this position creates the first impression for our patient's experience with Banner Health. Demonstrates a positive patient experience through interactions and effective communication.

5. Proficient understanding of payer authorization guidelines. Accurately submits timely notification according to insurance guidelines using various systems to reduce/eliminate denials. Consistently meets all registration related key performance indicators as determined by management.

6. Obtains federal/state compliance information, consents and documentation required by the patient’s insurance plan(s). This includes a thorough understanding of accurately completing hospital-based compliance forms required by CMS. Uses multiple computer applications proficiently.

7. Consistently discusses financial liability with the patient(s) and/or families that includes: collection in full of patient liability, assisting patient in applying for Banner Line of Credit, setting up payment plans and/or assisting patient with Banner Financial Assistance policy/application.

8. Provides a variety of patient services and financial services tasks. May be assigned functions such as transporting patients, training new hire employees, recapping daily deposits, posting daily deposits, or conducting other work assignments of the Patient Access Services team.

9. Works independently under regular supervision and follows structured work routines. Works in a high-volume, fast paced, clinical environment which requires to ability to be adaptable, critical thinking, and independent decision making and to prioritize work and ensure appropriateness and timeliness of each patient’s care. Assists in overseeing the workflow for the given shift. Acts as SME for PAS staff including disseminate and communicating education materials and updates. Assists with escalations as needed. Models Banner behaviors and values for the team. Primary external customers include patients and their families, physician office staff and third-party payors.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma/GED is required.

Must have customer service skills or knowledge of patient financial services, financial, collecting services or insurance industry experience processes normally acquired over three or more years of work experience.

Requires the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously with minimal supervision and to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment. Requires strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills to effectively interact with a wide range of audiences. Strong knowledge in the use of common office software, word processing, spreadsheet, database software, and typing ability are required.

Employees working at Banner Behavioral Health Hospital or the Whole Health Clinic must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain the card for the duration of their employment. Employees working at Banner MD Anderson on the Banner University Medical Center Phoenix campus must possess a State of Arizona Department of Public Safety Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain the card for the duration of their employment. This is a requirement of the Whole Family Counseling Program held at this specific facility.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Associate’s degree in Business Management is preferred.

CHAA certification is preferred.

Previous patient access and/or cash collections experience is preferred. Work experience with the Company’s systems and processes is preferred.
