Barts Assurance are the specialist in-house team responsible for delivering Internal Audit to Barts Health NHS Trust, one of the largest Hospital Groups in the country. The team also offers services to external clients, and in 2023 were proud to be shortlisted by the IIA in their Public Sector “Outstanding Team” category, whilst in 2022 the team won CIPFA’s national Public Finance award for “Excellence in Public Sector Audit”.
We are now looking for a talented and ambitious Senior Auditor (band 6) who can help us further develop and improve our service to clients. You will be a graduate with a relevant professional qualification (or part-qualified/studying), and at least 3 years’ experience in an audit setting within the public or private sectors, ideally including some experience auditing within the NHS/Healthcare sector. As a Senior Auditor you will be responsible for delivering internal audit services to clients, predominantly in the NHS. The remit for each client is wide-ranging encompassing clinical, operational and financial areas. The SA will therefore be required to have a good understanding of the issues and risks facing large public sector organisations and an understanding of their governance.
Services to clients largely consist of delivering an annual programme of risk-based audit reviews, together with ad hoc advice, support and guidance regarding internal control and governance issues. The Senior Auditor (SA) will be responsible for scoping, planning and providing internal audit services to Barts Assurance (BA) clients. The remit for each client is wide-ranging and likely to encompass operational/clinical and financial aspects of each organisation. The SA will therefore need to have a broad technical grasp of internal audit practice and risks relating to all types of NHS organisation and the wider public/third sector, in order to be able to deliver robust assurance and incisive audit opinions that clients’ directors and Boards can act upon with confidence.
