JOB PURPOSE To support in the delivery of care to the practice population working to protocols within a multi disciplined team under the direction of the lead nurse DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Measure and record the following height, weight, blood pressure, temperature and pulse updating records as required Undertake urinalysis after appropriate training Undertake ECGs after appropriate training Undertake spirometry after appropriate training Undertake phlebotomy collecting blood samples by venepuncture and ensuring all protocols for handling, labeling and documenting specimens are adhered to. Prepare samples for transport to laboratory. Administer injections under an individualized prescription. PSD or PGD ensuring safe storage, rotation, and disposal of vaccines and drugs Undertake dressings within range of training and competence Act as chaperone Provide health promotion literature Check and Stock consulting rooms with clinical supplies, checking current supplies in date Empty clinical waste, stock hand towels and soap dispensers in all clinical rooms Check and stock resuscitation trolleys Understand and follow infection control procedures Prepare clinical area and equipment for specific clinical sessions including minor operations Assist GP in minor ops and coil/implant clinic Carry out all duties in a professional manner adhering to policies and procedures and conforming to current Health and Safety policies and protocols.
