This position description describes the qualification requirements for Medical Laboratory Technician, Student Trainee, GS-699-3, positions made under career-conditional or career appointments in the
competitive service.

Some duties include:

The incumbent serves as a trainee and is responsible for collecting a broad range of routine and emergency blood samples. The incumbent may perform phlebotomy on inpatients, outpatients, surgical patients, ED patients or wherever the need arises. The position requires an important level of contact with patients who may be uncooperative, combative or infected with HIV, or a Hepatitis virus. Seeks help of higher graded phlebotomist's or supervisor for complex problems or difficult sticks

Work Schedule: Negotiable (PRN), minimum 8 hours every 2 weeks
