We are looking to recruit an experience nurse into our friendly, expanding and evolving team. We are looking for someone who can continue to develop this service and integrate into the team to continue to deliver our fantastic services offered within Gynae.

What are we looking for?

We are looking to recruit a experienced qualified nurse that is currently practising as a nurse specialist ideally in Gynaecology Oncology or Oncology speciality. The ideal candidate will be a qualified nurse with NMC registration and be enthusiastic about women's health. They right candidate will be motivated for change management and be resilient and skilled in leading and shaping the service. They will possess excellent compassionate and inclusive leadership and management skills.

The post-holder will be an advanced nurse practitioner and will be responsible for the management of a defined caseload (patients/service-users) and will provide highly specialist nursing support, advice, education and/or care to that specific group. They will carry continuing responsibility for the assessment of care needs, the development, implementation, and evaluation of programmes of care, including setting of standards of care, and support in establishing evidence-based practice within Gynaecology Oncology. The main goal of this role is to support patients and relatives going through the diagnosis of cancer and the treatments following this.

The Clinical Nurse Specialist will support the ongoing care needs of this cohort of women. They will manage expectations and support ongoing care needs and symptom control.

We are looking for a compassionate, highly motivated HIV Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our team. You should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and a genuine passion for caring for patients with HIV and life long conditions.

The HIV Clinical Nurse Specialist is responsible for providing quality individualised nursing care for patients with HIV, their relatives / carers in the community and within the Trust settings.

The Nurse Specialist will work in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team and will provide professional nursing leadership and guidance, expert clinical advice and education for the delivery of an effective service, in line with local and national targets, Trust policies and procedures.
• Working autonomously as an advanced practitioner to deliver specialist clinical care appropriate to the needs of individual HIV patients in line with research based principles;
• Perform advanced assessments to reflect the patients’ social, psychological, emotional and physical needs at initial diagnosis and before commencing or switching antiretroviral therapy.
• Perform initial assessments of unwell patients, liaising with / referring to HIV Consultants or other MDT members as appropriate. Demonstrate in-depth understanding of HIV co-infections and co-morbidities screening and monitoring in complex situations.
• Monitor and review plans of care with patients to meet individual needs, referring to HIV Consultants or other members of the MDT if required.
• Manage own caseload of HIV patients in line with local and national guidelines;
• Maintain patients’ confidentiality, dignity and respect at all times.
• Carry out extended skills such as history taking, physical examinations and ordering investigations.
• Review and interpret investigations / tests results to identify when changes to treatment need to be made.
• Required to discuss treatment options with patients and ensure good adherence to medications. You will act as a point of contact and advocate for disclosure of HIV status.

Likewise, an MEO may request that the duty ME speaks to the bereaved or junior doctors. You will be expected to comply with national protocols to ensure that in each case the cause of death is scrutinised in a way that is robust, proportionate and consistent (National Medical Examiner: Good practice guidelines January 2020). You must have up to date knowledge of medical conditions, treatments and medicines which may or may not have contributed to death and be able to exercise judgement in where to seek specialist advice in order to determine the appropriate level of scrutiny required. Applicants must be GMC registered with a licence to practice in the UK, with at least five years' experience of General Practice or for doctors working in the Acute Trust, at least five years full registration. The successful candidates must complete the 26-core eLearning modules and RCPath Medical Examiners face-to-face training within six months of being in post. The Derby posts are to provide one additional ME each day on a Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. The QHB post will be expected to work the hours flexibly across the week, specifically including Wednesdays.
