Selected Physician will serve the Veteran populations at both the Hyannis and New Bedford Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs), requiring travel between the two Facilities.

The Staff Physician (Family Medicine | Internal Medicine | Primary Care), is responsible for maintaining professional, technical and administrative knowledge, competencies and skills to provide effective, timely, quality responses to patients' health care needs. The Primary Care Physician is responsible for the Veterans enrolled in his/her PACT.

Responsible for the primary care of assigned patient panel across the continuum of care to include: comprehensive health assessment; case management; continuity and coordination of care; patient advocacy and compliance with chronic disease, prevention and utilization indicators. The Boiler Plant Operator uses manual and automatic controls to operate the Boiler Plant in the Operations Section of Facilities Management Service at the Lyons Campus. Performs all duties required to maintain the safe and efficient operation of a high-pressure steam boiler plant and performs all preventive maintenance duties, adjustments and corrective actions as required and necessary.

The Boiler Plant Operator performs all duties required to maintain the safe and efficient operation of a 3500-horsepower high-pressure steam boiler plant, operating steam pressure of boilers between 100 and 135 psi, consisting of five (5) 700-HP fire tube boilers (with economizers) automatic and. manually fired combination oil and natural gas burning. The total capacity is 120, 750 lbs. /hr. with an average output of 40,000 to 45,000 lbs. /hr.

The Incumbent performs all preventive maintenance duties, adjustments and corrective actions as required and necessary. The incumbent operates the feed water system, the steam system, domestic water, natural gas, fuel oil, and local control panels at each individual boiler and the main control panel with plant and boiler master controls along with all associated transmitters and recorders. The Incumbent operates systems and related components. Operations of the feedwater system consists of backflow preventers, water softeners, make-up tank, transfer pumps, a 100,000 lbs./hr. Deaerating Feedwater Heater and feed water pumps. The domestic water system includes a plant water softening system. • The employee independently compiles, consolidates, coordinates and organizes a wide variety of data utilizing personal computers and
  state-of-the-art electronic data processing skills to support management decision making.
• Assignments require a practical knowledge of the Education Service, and established guidelines relating to the budget, supply and procurement processes and statistical reporting and records systems.
• Maintains extensive database of current work and backlog. Initiates job order requests in system; monitors hours and dollars charged against job estimate and notifies team chief as to problem areas during performance. Initials lateral transfers, equipment turn-ins and additions.
• Prepares, verifies, and/or closes out procurement documents, files, reports, or records.
• Monitors the expenditure of funds and keeps the supervisor advised of the status of the operating budget and alert to the critical areas where adjustments may be required.
• Work requires comprehensive knowledge of Department of Veterans Affairs and Medical Center policies, rules, regulations, and other guidelines relating to completing assignments in the program areas assigned.

The Care Coordinator RN employs clinical and organizational skills to provide safe, quality, and efficient nursing care for Veterans seeking scheduled, walk-in or urgent mental health services in any of our outpatient clinic settings. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, direct patient care, screening and evaluation of behavioral consults, triage of secure messaging, phone calls, consults, and assessment and triage of Veterans who seek walk-in and/or urgent mental health care.

The RN duties throughout the BHCL Outpatient Clinics may entail, but not limited to:

• Quickly responding to patients medical and psychiatric needs, floating for staffing coverage, administering Basic Life Support, assisting with patient falls, triaging walk-ins, administering injections, and/or transporting (ambulating or wheelchair-assist) patients to the Emergency Department or other clinics throughout the hospital.
• Accountable for adhering to established policies, standards of care, and practice and for demonstrating leadership, self-direction, experience, and creative approaches to the management of complex patient care.
• Create and foster an environment of Veteran advocacy and is accountable for adhering to established policies and standards of care.
• Provides education to Veterans, their families, and BHCL staff members, as well as staff throughout this Medical Center.
• Assesses and analyzes age and culturally-specific psychosocial, medical, spiritual, and social needs of Veterans aged 17 years and above who are seeking access to any Behavioral Health services.
• Identifies his/her own area of learning needs to maintain current knowledge of psychiatric nursing, utilizing current literature, and continuing education.
• Is actively involved in Performance Improvement (PI) activities and participates in unit, service and Medical Center committees and task forces.
• Is directly responsible to the BHCL Outpatient Nurse Manager.
