DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POST As a Research Nurse, your main duties will include: Planning and supporting study set up across various sites within Sheffield . You will be involved in screening, recruitment, monitoring and assessments of research subjects in accordance with local, national, and international protocols, policies, and procedures. Be responsible for the planning and implementation of protocols in accordance with research parameters as set out by the Chief and Principal Investigators. Establish appropriate data collection systems for patient data (including monitoring of data), in accordance with research protocols. This includes the creation and maintenance of databases for study progression. Maintain complete source documentation and Site Investigator's File for Chief and Principal Investigators and Regulatory Bodies. Meet regularly with the Research Team Members, including Lead Research Nurse, Clinical Lead and Chief Investigator for the duration of studies. In addition, the post holder may be required to attend ongoing presentations and lectures to maintain a knowledge base of developments within the field of the Studies. Collaborates with Investigators, Regulatory Bodies, and Ancillary departments. Monitor research subjects using excellent communication skills by telephone or face-to-face, keeping documented evidence and records of the intervention. Represent and promote the objectives of the research study to internal/external constituencies appropriately. Plan, organise, and complete complex clinical procedures (breathing assessment including spirometry) using efficient workflow schedules and maintain accurate documented records. Be responsible for explaining clinical aspects of the study to the patients and carers involved in the study on a one-to-one basis. Liaise with the GP Surgery staff, central research teams, and other stakeholders to ensure timely arrangement of patient visits for both recruitment and follow-up. Maintain contact with participants during follow-up, including home visits where appropriate. Always remain professional and deal sensitively with participants and their carers. Providing regular feedback on the study progress and milestones to relevant stakeholders and work towards resolving any issues as they arise. Ensure that all required documentation (paper and electronic) is maintained appropriately at the coordinating centre and the GP practices. All appropriate paperwork to be forwarded to trial managers in a timely manner. Ensure that all research is ethical and carried out in accordance with regulatory guidance. Ensure compliance with the organisational and national policies and guidelines. Carry out any other research-related duties within the post holders qualifications and competence as delegated by the Lead Research Nurse, Clinical Lead, and the Trail Sponsors Willing to undertake any training as deemed necessary. To utilise effective communication with patients/carers, provider colleagues, other members of the Medicines Optimisation Team, wider ICB, and stakeholders. The information may be of a complex or sensitive nature. To communicate results of audits and other prescribing related work to ICB partner staff concisely, presenting information in a suitable format (e.g., written and/or verbal) and style for the target audience. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The following are the core responsibilities of the Enhanced Nurse Practitioner. There may be on occasion a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent on factors such as workload and staffing levels. Maintain accurate and contemporaneous health records appropriate to the consultation, ensuring accurate completion of all necessary documentation associate with patient health care and registration with the practice. Clinically examine and assess patient needs from a physiological and psychological perspective and plan clinical care accordingly. Prioritise health problems and intervene appropriately to assist the patient in complex, urgent or emergency situations, including initiation of effective emergency care. Support patients to adopt health promotion strategies that promote healthy lifestyles and apply principles of self-care. Enhance their own performance through continuous professional development, keep up to date with current evidence-based practice Impart own knowledge and skills to PCN colleagues to meet the needs of the service.
