MHA are recruiting for the role of Health & Safety Advisor, reporting to the Head of Risk Management and working as part of our highly skilled, but friendly Governance team. T
his is an exciting opportunity for an experienced individual to help shape the leadership and delivery of all our services across MHA and really make a difference in the lives of the people we support.
The role is currently offered on a 12 month fixed term contract, working 37 hours per week, based in Derby city centre, with the ability to work flexibly through a balance of home and office working. following the initial 12-month period, there is the possibility of transitioning to a permanent position.
About the Role
The Health & Safety Advisor plays a key role in providing professional knowledge, expertise, support and guidance to managers at all levels, to operationalise and deliver MHA's statutory and other health and safety obligations across the entire MHA service portfolio. You will support the Head of Risk Management by providing subject matter expertise to support the implementation of health and safety policies at both corporate and local service levels.
You will have particular responsibility for supporting managers to recognise and understand their health and safety responsibilities and obligations to enable MHA to provide a safe environment for all residents, staff, service users, visitors and others, and to ensure compliance with required safety standards across the organisation.For more information on the role please see the attached Job Description.
About You
As a minimum you will be a Graduate Member of IOSH working towards Chartered membership and preferably hold additional NEBOSH health and safety qualifications or equivalent. You will have a high degree of experience in promoting a positive health and safety culture, and improved health and safety performance as subject matter expert/professionally qualified lead in a large multi-site organisation in the Health and Social Care sector or similarly complex setting.
You will be solution focussed and have excellent communication skills and the ability to help others understand the organisations health and safety obligations and how it impacts quality service delivery. You will be self-motivated and able to work independently as well as working well as part of a team.
It is also important that you share our values and as a leader in the organisation you will be a role model to others.
