Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust Major Trauma Centre is one of four in London, dedicated to improving outcomes for trauma patients in London. We are looking to recruit an innovative and highly specialised Band 7 Occupational Therapist, with previous experience working in the areas of trauma, orthopaedic, vascular surgery, plastic and general surgery. You would work within a team, comprising of qualified and assistant therapy staff, providing intervention to patients experiencing a wide range of conditions, whose needs are often challenging and complex.

The post holder will work with major trauma, orthopaedic and amputee patients who have sustained complex injuries and support them on their rehabilitation journeys. You will provide holistic occupational therapy assessment and treatment to patients with complex injuries due to major trauma. You will work closely with the MDT to optimise patient’s recovery to facilitate discharge home, or refer on to other community rehabilitation services.

The successful applicant will have the opportunities to develop their leadership, management and QI skills, whilst being responsible for overseeing the day-to-day workload, supervision and appraisal of junior staff. The day unit primarily specialises in metabolic and endocrine testing, however it also takes referrals for day cases from other specialties. The clinics house pituitary, growth hormone clinics, thyroid patient care, osteoporosis care and all manner of diabetic care such as foot care, sexual health and infectious diseases, retinal screening and a young persons clinics.

This position requires a person with strong organizational skills, flexibility and good interpersonal skills. It is expected you will support and train other team members. You will be supported to do this.

You will be responsible for key areas and act as a link nurse for the unit in areas such as infection control, tissue viability and diabetes. You will participate in the units’ rolling education programme for staff and patients alike.

You will demonstrate flexibility and the ability to adapt to a wide variety of issues or problems that patient present with. You must be able to demonstrate leadership qualities and to act as a role model for more junior staff within the team. The ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision is a must.

A minimum of 18 months post registration is required at ward level or a day facility.

The Imperial College Renal and Transplant Centre opened at the Hammersmith Hospital in November 2005 and has become the largest facility of its kind in Europe.

We currently have a Named Nurse Safeguarding Adult whose banding is under review to make it a higher band. The post is line manager for safeguarding adult nurses and the learning disability and autism nurses. The post oversees the patients where DoLS applications have been submitted as well as close liaison with the tissue viability nurses and ensuring reasonable adjustments are in place for those that require it as well as overseeing the domestic abuse provision and response across the Trust. The successful applicant will be responsible for managing a portfolio of clinical trials whereby they can make a valued contribution in assessing andmanaging the care pathways for patients participating in research. Prior experience of working in research within an NHS setting is essential for thisrole and experience in oncology is highly desirable. A mature attitude, leadership skills and the ability to use initiative are essential attributes for this role.
• The Senior Research Pactitioner/Nurse has a key role in the delivery of the operational aspects of research trials. They will provide expertise to ensure the timely delivery of the growing portfolio of studies undertaken within Imperial while ensuring the needs of patient care are based at the centre of delivery.
• The post holder supports the aims of the Trust to improve the speed, quality, and integration of clinical research, through the successful delivery of clinical research in the NHS.
• The post holder is a recognised expert in one or more specialities and in the field of clinical research, providing advice, care and support to patients entering clinical trials. He/she will take responsibility for the planning, development and implementation of the clinical research portfolio that reflects the patient population, the work and interests of the local clinical teams.
• You will provide expert support to colleagues and staff through the research study process, from grant application, to feasibility, to clinical pathways, to study delivery. You will work collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team and act as a professional role model, providing clinical care and teaching to staff researchers, research participants and patients.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated clinical research nurse to join our multidisciplinary team within the NIHR Imperial Clinical Research Facility to undertake exciting research in stroke and dementia. You will work with the team to deliver clinical studies investigating the 18kDa Translocator Protein (TSPO) as a drug target for cerebral small vessel disease, the most common cause of vascular dementia, and Alzheimer’s disease. The research aims to address an immense unmet need in the management of vascular brain disease.

You will be based at the NIHR Imperial Clinical Research Facility (CRF), a purpose-built unit at Hammersmith Hospital in West London. The facility is a partnership between Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust and Imperial College London, a world-leading research-intensive university. The CRF specialises in academic and commercial early phase clinical studies in various disease areas and provides a well-equipped and professional environment that enables medical staff and scientists to work collaboratively.

The post will involve regular travel to the memory service at Charing Cross Hospital for the recruitment of participants. You will have a key role in the day-to-day running of the studies, including recruitment, participant-facing activities and data collection. You will work collaboratively with the research team and wider CRF team to coordinate and conduct participant visits and study-related activities, according to Good Clinical Practice.
• The aim of this job is to provide best care to volunteers and patients participating in clinical research studies in the Imperial Clinical Research Facility (ICRF). You are expected to carry out procedures and investigations on research participants (healthy volunteers or patients) according to study protocol, Trust and local policies. Procedures include administration of Trial drugs, monitoring participants’ progress, continuous assessment of participants’ health, and collecting and processing blood and other biological samples.
• You will also be expected to lead on some studies. This may involve setting up studies with the required documents and approvals, monitor and support recruitment, organise participants’ visits and schedules, and record, report and follow up progress and plans. You are expected to supervise nursing staff and allied healthcare professionals assigned to and working on studies you lead on.
• The post holder is expected to remain up to date with Trust and local policies and help support the unit’s quality accounts by continuous auditing and developing standards. You are expected to continue developing yourself professionally and academically by utilising the relevant training and support opportunities available.
