Experienced Duty Manager – Roebuck Bay Hotel
The Roebuck Bay Hotel is seeking to welcome a full-time Duty Manager into to our large scale business operation inclusive of Food and Beverage, Retail and Accommodation departments.
The Roey is an iconic, 130 year old venue situated in the heart of the Kimberley’s – Broome. The venue has space to welcome another experienced Duty Manager to the team, reporting directly to the Senior Duty Managers and Senior Management Team.
About The Team
The Roey is a multi-faceted business, with many departments: a restaurant, sports bar, alfresco bar and events space, bottleshop, motel, and hostel. Championed by a team of long-serving managers and senior staff, Roey’s core values are Loyalty and Integrity.
The Duty Manager operates as the Approved Manager for designated shifts, is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the licensed premises, and ensures that all operations, events, and staff are in accordance with the venue's policies, procedures, and licensing requirements.
About The Role
The role is offered on a full-time contract, with the expectation of 5 shifts, equating to 38 hours per week. The Duty Manager role is structured, and the candidate will be expected to work independently to satisfy the expectations of the daily workload.
Day to day, you can expect the role to include:
· Oversee the day-to-day operations of the licensed premises for the designated shift.
· Complete Duty Manager opening and closing procedures and daily and weekly checklists.
· Report financial, operational and compliance shift activities to the senior management team.
· Communicate with staff on shift regarding shift objectives, incidents and other relevant information.
· Monitor and ensure staff compliance with relevant policies and procedures via the relevant supervisors.
· Manage shift and venue closure, to achieve revenue maximization and / or control of the venue as required.
· Complete all requirements detailed in the ‘event order’ and in accordance with relevant procedures, and to assist the events team with the management of different special events where required.
· Manage security and bar contractors on shift.
· Complete required cash management and administration as per reconciliation procedure.
· Manage in-house guests and late check-ins for PM shift.
· Ensure that the venue is clean, tidy and well-presented at all times.
· When working a shift where not designated the ‘Approved Manager’, undertake supervisory and other duties as required to support the day-to-day operations, under the direction of the designated ‘Approved Manager’ and / or Operations Manager.
· Perform health and safety duties as required by the position, including fire and emergency management and first aid response.
· Be a role model for healthy and safe work practices.
· Promote a safe and healthy work culture.
· Maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
· Report any health and safety issues immediately.
· Take reasonable care for your own health and safety and that of others.
About You
This role will suit an Approved Manager with experience working in night-led venues with several departments. A candidate with experience in all aspects of the business would be beneficial. We value strong personalities, enthusiasm, hard work and big smiles!
Requirements for the role:
? A valid RSA for Western Australia (required)
? Current valid Approved Managers MLP1 certification (required)
? Current valid TAB license
? 1-year experience as Duty Manager of a busy, high-volume venue or night-time venue
Additional criteria:
? 5 year’s experience in the Hospitality Industry would be advantageous.
? First Aid certificate preferred
? Previous experience in POS – H&L, Tyro Payments, RMS advantageous.
