We are a dynamic team based at York and Scarborough Teaching Hospital Foundation Trust and are keen to expand our consultant body on the York site with another enthusiastic colleague. The prospectus should hopefully provide you greater insight about the fantastic team at York Hospital and the benefits of living and working in the beautiful cathedral city of York and its surrounding desirable villages.

The post is for a sub-specialist knee surgeon with an interest in soft tissue and sports injuries with a knee arthroplasty practice. The current working model includes a 1 in 10 rota covering a general trauma intake providing an in-reach and referral service to other Surgical Wards and the Emergency department. There is dedicated daily trauma list capacity for the prompt management of trauma to complement a 24/7 rota, supported by an experienced multi-disciplinary orthopaedic team.

The department has successfully trained and developed their own middle grades to the level of experienced associate specialists. These valuable colleagues supplement those trainees who are allocated from the Yorkshire deanery.



We are seeking a fellowship trained knee arthroplasty and soft tissue knee surgeon to join the current team of specialist knee surgeons (1.5 soft tissue knee specialists and 3.5 revision knee specialists). We run a weekly local arthroplasty MDT, and in the process of developing a hub and spoke MDT system within our local ICT with Hull. We have a wide range of complex cases in the unit including multi ligament reconstructions, peri-prosthetic fractures, infections and cases referred from our local oncology department with metastatic disease about the hip and knee. We are also in the process of overhauling our virtual fracture clinic service and acute knee service, in which the successful candidate will be required to take an active role.

The successful candidate will be given full support in the form of joint Consultant operating for difficult cases, as well as with service development projects, patient safety initiatives and appraisal. • Follow dialysis, complete discontinuation procedures including wash back and removal of needles.

You will have the opportunity to work with many experienced Dietitians, as well as within broader multi-professional teams. You will be working with other Band 5 Dietitians, Dietetic Support Workers and Assistant Practitioners, and together you will provide inpatient services across areas including general medicine, surgery, critical care, stroke, gastroenterology, care of the elderly, cancer and renal disease.

Within the acute setting, in addition to oral nutrition support, you will be able to develop clinical skills working with patients requiring enteral tube feeding and parenteral nutrition. .

You will mainly be working within York Hospital, however there will also be the opportunity to work cross-site when required, including at Scarborough Hospital.

The department places a strong emphasis on clinical and peer support and clinical supervision, and has a well-established programme facilitating the training of dietetic students on the three clinical placements included within their training. We are also involved in delivering a variety of rolling training programmes for other healthcare professionals across the Trust, relating to nutritional care. The successful candidate will be involved in these important aspects of supporting the learning and development of others.

The post holder will join a team of Acute Physicians and Acute Geriatricians who provide senior clinical leadership and daily ward round on the Acute Medical Units and Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC)

York Hospital provides a full range of inpatient and outpatient services. The post holder will take an active role in specialty care of inpatients and will also participate in the General Medicine on call rota at the site. The department is part of a care group wide transformation which has allowed us to develop our Same Day Emergency Care to control assessment of patients and flow into the bed base, working closely with colleagues in Emergency Medicine and General Practice. We are looking for a highly motived, qualified, assistant radiographic practitioner to work in our busy department in York. York is a wonderful city within North Yorkshire, an area renowned for its beaches, National Parks, and history.

This position will be based in the x-ray department at York Hospital, and at our satellite site at Clifton Park Clinic. The assistant practitioner will be working alongside a qualified supervising radiographer, undertaking a range of x-ray examinations on patients who are non-complex in nature.
• Undertake all the professional and technical requirements of the post as an assistant radiographic practitioner, while working under clinical supervision, within the Radiology service at York & Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
• Undertake a defined range of radiographic examinations under supervision
• Adhere to the defined imaging criteria of the Trust whilst ensuring the best interests of the patient are always maintained, including acting as a patient’s advocate as necessary.
• Provide an efficient and ethical imaging service while remaining sensitive at all times to the needs and concerns of all service users.
• Observe all statutory and local rules & practices concerning Ionising Radiation Regulations IRMER 2017 and IRR 2017.
• Initiate and/or maintain all required records associated with imaging examinations in electronic and/or paper form.

The successful applicant will be on the middle grade on call rota on an approximately 1in7 frequency with prospective cover

This is a 12 month renewable contract

The successful candidate will join the team as a Medical Retina Fellow and will work closely with Prof Gale, Mr Hanson, Mrs Bailey, Miss Topping, Ms Airody, Ms Venugopal, Ms Gupta. The timetable will expose the post holder clinic experience and theatre experience if competencies allow.

Successful candidates will be exposed to retinal clinics, laser treatments Research and urgent care.

In addition, the fellow will also be expected to help facilitate research and ensure that all IP rights of the Trust are observed where applicable and the timetable will ensure dedicated time for this.
