Your new company
Your new organisation will be a major public services body in Sheffield who\'re looking to add a Finance Officer to their team to bolster their resilience and provide additional support to their Accountants and Finance Business Partners with clear, accurate and timely financial information.
Your new role
Within the role, you'll provide support with budget setting, profiling all revenue, capital and grant budgets in accordance with the budget-setting timetable, updating the annual budget and reconciling the General Ledger as necessary. You'll monitor the budgets and identify, query and explain any variances to the Management Accountant and provide commentary on expenditure. You'll calculate all accruals, prepayments, collaboration adjustments and external recharges and ensure they are input to the ledger on a monthly and year-end basis. Supporting the Accountant, you'll run capital month end reports and monitor for variances. Lastly, you'll update staff costings, special costings and national framework agreement costings, gathering information from various sources to arrive at the costs and assist with the completion of external returns.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role you'll need to either hold a full AAT qualification or be close to completing the exams, with experience of working in a financial environment including budgetary control and year-end procedures that you can talk through. You'll have the ability to analyse, critically evaluate and interpret financial information and have experience of using a computerised financial information system in a medium to large organisation (including General Ledger), with a knowledge of financial controls and rules regulation. A background in public sector finance would be beneficial and exposure to Oracle for finance a plus.
What you'll get in return
This role is being offered on a 12 month fixed term contract basis with a salary close to £30,000 per annum, with a raft of public sector benefits. The role will be operated in a hybrid style (50% office working). Interviews will be booked wc 15th January
