Provide high quality emergency care, being competent in the normal range of emergency medical conditions and injuries.Direct clinical care will consist of scheduled shifts for the routine assessment and treatment of patients that present to the Emergency Department. Consultant presence is daily from 08:00 – 20:00 with off-site support out of hours. When a consultant is not present the oversight of the department (EPIC role) will be taken on by a member of the middle grade team as the most senior member of medical team on site. The post holder will be expected to supervise and provide clinical advice to the medical and nursing staff on duty within the Emergency Department and support the clinicians within the UTC.

We have formed a group model with Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust. This enables us to be part of their colorectal cancer MDT and currently refer low rectal cancers for Robotic rectal resections, early rectal cancers for Robotic TEMS, young right colon cancers for Robotic CME, selected locally advanced rectal cancers for Robotic exenteration procedures and other procedures like Robotic LPLND and para-aortic lymph node dissection. There may be opportunities in the future for successful candidates to be able to be mentored in such procedures and share joint operation at Queen Alexandra Hospital, Portsmouth.

The provisional timetable represents a job plan consisting of 10 programmed activities (PAs) per week. The job plan is a prospective agreement that sets out the consultant’s duties, responsibilities and objectives for the coming year. It covers all aspects of the consultant’s professional practice including clinical work, teaching, research, education and managerial responsibilities. It will provide a clear schedule of commitments, both internal and external.

In addition it will include personal objectives including details of their link to wider service objectives and details of the support required by the consultant to fulfil the job plan and the objectives.

The job plan, for 10 PAs will commence including 1.5 Supporting Professional Activities [SPA]. After six months in post the SPA allocation will be reviewed with the post holder and any necessary adjustments will be made with a maximum of 2.5 SPAs. It is expected that more direct clinical care (DCC) sessions in theatre or clinic would be available if required.

Current on call commitments are based around a 1:7 provision.

Qualified Pharmacy Technicians: Salary scale band 4: £26,530-£29,114

The following are essential: BTEC Level 3 Diploma in the Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Technicians or L4 Certificate of Higher Education in Pharmacy Technician Practice.You must be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council(GPhC) as a Pharmacy Technician in the UK.

You will work on rotation with our Dispensary, Mental Health and Oncology/Aseptic teams. You will be a source of advice and information to patients and ward staff and a support to student technicians and dispensing assistants.



Qualified Dispensers: Salary scale band 3: £24,071-£25,674

The following are essential: L2 certificate in Dispensing and Pharmacy Assistant skills, awarded by a GPhC approved provider.You must have evidence of your L2 certificate to qualify for interview.

You will work with the Dispensary team, dispensing outpatient, inpatient and discharge prescriptions, along with topping up the ward stock if required. You will assist in providing emergency bags and kits. You will serve both patients, relatives and staff at our pharmacy reception and receive calls on the telephone.



Excellent practical problem solving and prioritisation skills, and an ability to deal with all types of people are essential.

As well as a comprehensive in-house induction programme, you will be supported by attending a Trust induction program.

Shifts will be 7.5hrs between the hours of 8.30am and 5pm.

Flexibility with shift patterns may be required to suit the changing needs of the service.
