Do you have a clinical skills qualification if so we have an opportunity for a Lead Specialist Screening Practitioner – Bowel Cancer Screening Programme to work for Northumbria Healthcare / Newcastle Hospitals NHS Foundation Trusts.
The successful applicant would be working in an autonomous role with the support of a Bowel Screening Team.
To act as the Bowel Cancer Screening Programme Lead Specialist Screening Practitioner for the provision and co-ordination of the Specialist Screening Practitioner (SSP) Team, ensuring the service needs are met across the North of Tyne area.
Ensure all members of the team are providing an effective service across both Northumbria and Newcastle Hospitals Trusts and within local communities.
To supervise the link SSP Nurse in co-ordination of health promotion activities with local providers to facilitate awareness and access to the BCSP.
To provide a screening service for patients participating in the Bowel Cancer Screening Programme North of Tyne, ensuring all sites provide access to patients that meet demand.
Assess patients prior to commencing colorectal investigations.
Post holder will be expected to participate as a SSP, acting as a patient advocate supporting them to navigate clinical pathways for colorectal cancer conditions.
To support the Programme Manager to monitor the Screening Centre’s performance by reviewing and taking action, where required, regarding failsafe reports on a weekly basis and conducting appropriate compliance audits
Work collaboratively with the Screening Programme Hub providing the link with the acute services.
