An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated Locum Consultant to work in Haematology and join our team at Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust.

This is an exciting opportunity for the successful applicant to be involved in the future development of Haematology services, for which there is a high level of commitment within the Trust, and with partner organisations.

The post will be based at the Huddersfield Royal Infirmary, however the post holder will be expected to work across the two hospital sites.

The post holder will be undertaking inpatient and outpatient work. The post holder is encouraged to develop his/her own sub-specialty interest.

Applications are encouraged from experienced Locum consultants wishing to take up a new challenge or newly accredited consultants who will be supported through our highly regarded development programmes.

There are 2 dedicated ANP's for Haematology that provide follow up clinics, telephone advice lines and supports the junior doctors and nursing staff. The department also has a Haematology specialist nurse who supports the cancer patients through their pathway.

There is a dedicated Oncology/Haematology ward based on the Huddersfield Royal Infirmary site and an assessment area for ward attenders.

There are two dedicated day case facilities, one on Greenlea unit at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary, that opened in October 2015. The other is in the Macmillan Unit at Calderdale Royal Hospital. The Trust has a Chemotherapy Clinical Nurse Specialist and a well-established Chemotherapy Team to support.

The post holders will work within the Medicine specialties, in particular, Acute Medicine and Geriatrics. Senior Trust Drs are expected to provide professional supervision and development of all Junior Doctors, Physician Associates and ACPs with the general clinical management of our patients attending the hospital.

Senior Dr participate in the day-to-day training of junior medical staff and with all other training/teaching activities facilitated by the division. All are expected to comply with Trust’s policies and to maintain their skills and knowledge through CPD.

The current on call rota is based on a 1 in 15 rota. When on-call you will be overseeing the management of acute admissions along with supporting the wards should it be required. The oncall team is made of registrar (ST3+) doctors, SHOs, FY1 and physician associates. There is also a team of nurses to manage catheters, cannulas, ECGs, IV fluids and some prescribing.

The post holder is appointed to act as a competent person to provide professional expert guidance and advice on Health and Safety matters. They will be required to support all levels of the organisation as required under relevant statutory provisions.



The postholder will be required to exercise their unique professional judgement to influence decision making at all levels, enacting, and ensuring the Trust can meet compliance or mitigate risks. They will be involved in supporting with the development of a Health and Safety strategy, comprehensive policy framework and associated learning requirements to ensure it can demonstrate compliance with Health and Safety Legislation. We are inviting applications in the Emergency Medicine Department at Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust for Trust doctors at CT1/2 Level.

The role will be a junior role within the department and the successful candidate will work with the current team in supporting and developing the department, team and working towards the wider organisational goals and culture.

This is a Full-Time post providing with basic hours of 40 hours per week, but applicants wishing to work part-time are also encouraged to apply and rotas will be adjusted accordingly, and by negotiation with appointees

This job would be ideally suited for doctors taking time out after the completion of their foundation training who have a keen interest in a career in emergency medicine and would like to develop their portfolio.

Emergency Duties

The post-holder will participate in a 1 in 14 rota providing support to the departments at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary and Calderdale Royal Hospital.

Cover for Absent Colleagues

The post-holder would be expected to provide cover for absent colleagues on planned periods of leave and for short-term unexpected absences to help maintain the continuity of the Service. To this end, they would be expected to liaise with their colleagues in planning leave.

Teaching

It is expected that the post-holder will have an interest in and active role in teaching. The Departments are involved in teaching medical staff of all grades as well as medical students. The post-holder will be expected to participate in delivery of the weekly junior doctor teaching programmes. From time to time, there may be the requirement to provide clinical training to medical students and paramedics undertaking attachments to the Department. In the main, these activities will be delivered concurrently with normal clinical activities, rather than in addition to these.

MSK Physiotherapy Services at Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Trust are looking to recruit a dynamic and experienced physiotherapist to join our team as Clinical Lead in Chronic Pain.

The post-holder will play a key role, alongside our Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioner in Pain, in helping to re-design physiotherapy pain services in line with latest guidelines and provide support and training to the wider physiotherapy team. The ability to build relationships with other services involved in the care of patients with chronic pain is essential.

There are extensive Learning Centres at both Calderdale Royal Hospital and Huddersfield Royal Infirmary, both centres are equipped with audio-visual equipment. There is also a library at the Calderdale Hospital site with a full range of journals plus intranet and electronic access.

In 2015 the Trust invested in a purpose built simulated 2 bed ward at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary which can be altered to be an emergency medicine bay, a theatre/ICU area or a clinic setting. There is also a simulation training room at Calderdale Royal Hospital equipped with control rooms. There are simulation manikins on both site, SimMan 3G, SimMom, SimJunior and SimBaby. All healthcare workers are able to access relevant training sessions for their role.


• To work within the Out-Patient Physiotherapy Service leading, co-ordinating and developing effective clinical interventions within the speciality of, but not exclusive to, persistent Pain in order to advance clinical practice across the service in line with the current evidence base
• To manage autonomously a clinical workload of patients/clients at a highly specialist level, assessing and treating patients and maintaining clinica
