We are looking for a Retail Catering Assistant to support the new retail outlet at Florence Nightingale Community Hospital Derby .

Working shift Monday to Friday 08.30- 16.30 including bank holidays.

You will be responsible for working in the new retail outlet, preparing shop to open and serving Customers , stocking shelves, cleaning duties, and opening and closing the shop, recording till readings working as part of the Communities Facilities team .

The Urology Department at Royal Derby Hospital has an exciting opportunity for a fixed-term Locally Employed Registrar CT2 starting on 15th January 2025 until 5th August 2025 with a possible extension to post. The department are looking for an enthusiastic experienced individual to join a forward thinking and proactive Urology team of 12 consultants, supporting in the delivery of a full range of urological services.

This post is designed to provide advanced experience in urological surgery. The successful appointee will be actively involved in supporting both emergency and elective urology activity including theatres, day case and outpatient clinics. The post holder will participate in the urology, trainee level on call rota. Whilst it is not a recognised training post, this post is well supervised and there are opportunities to learn and develop skills.

This post is to cover a specific period. The successful candidate must have completed all pre-employment checks and be available to commence 15th January 2025.

The successful candidate will have previous experience in the urology speciality, with the expectation that the post holder will undertake independent outpatient clinics, flexible cystoscopy sessions and act as first assistant in theatre. Undertaking the continued care & treatment of patients pre and post-operatively.

The post holder will have exposure to a wide range of training opportunities in advanced laparoscopic and robotic surgery as well as the opportunity to attend departmental teaching.

We are looking for a Specialty Doctor to join our General Medicine Team at the Royal Derby Hospital (University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust).

The post offers an exciting opportunity to train in the growing discipline of General Internal Medicine.

The post will commence with a fixed term Specialty Doctor contract in General Medicine for 12 months. Subject to satisfactory progress at the end of this first year the successful candidate will have the option to
progress to the Portfolio Programme which we would expect to require 3-5 years for completion in most cases. The contract will be reviewed annually and extended on a mutually agreed basis, based on
successful completion of required competencies at annual review



The contract is for 10 PAs per week (9 DCC and 1 SPA). Some SPA time is pre allocated (see section ‘EDUCATION AND TRAINING’). There is the option to add on a further 2 PA DCC if requested.

About the role:

The Orthopaedic Department at the Royal Derby Hospital has a long history of Orthopaedic innovation and excellence. This thriving department boasts world renowned and leading Orthopaedic Surgeons.

Applications are invited for this prestigious post, which offers advanced training and experience in all aspects of upper limb surgery. The post would be most suitable for a trainee with CCT or a year 6 orthopaedic trainee, with FRCS (Orth) or equivalent, Full GMC Registration with a licence to practise and with a special interest in knee surgery. These are 12 month appointments however candidates who are interested in a 6 month post may also be considered. The Trauma and Orthopaedics Unit at Royal Derby comprises 8 purpose-built state of the art laminar flow theatres as well as dedicated outpatient clinic facilities for both Trauma and Elective patients. As one of the largest Orthopaedic Departments in the country, the full spectrum of upper limb surgery is performed in Derby.

The Upper Limb Fellow will be directly involved in the day to day care of the Trauma & Orthopaedic patients admitted to their firm. There is a day to day commitment to clinics & operating sessions with the opportunity to experience the full spectrum of upper limb surgery including primary elbow and shoulder replacements along with shoulder, elbow and wrist arthroscopies. During each six month rotation you will work for either Mr Clark and Mr Cresswell (this also includes a day in the Pulvertaft Hand Unit) Mr Espag or Mr Tambe team

Independent elective operating may be possible as the appointee’s experience increases. The timetable may alter depending upon current needs however we will endeavor to utilise the cover sessions for upper limb related Clinics/Theatres and or trauma lists.

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Emergency Department at the Royal Derby Hospital for a patient process administrator shift lead.

You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team for the Adult and Children's Emergency Department providing a comprehensive front-linereceptionist/administrativeservice booking in patients and answering enquiries from patients, relatives and staff. You will be responsible for processing patient details to create and maintain the patients record whilst they are within the Emergency Department.

The post works on a 24-hour shift rotation, rotating between the areas within the department. The role is based within the busy, clinical environment of the Emergency Department.

You will be required to assist with the mentoring of new PPAs to the department.

To be the first point of contact for self-presenting patients, answering general queries both face to face and telephone.

Registering patients on arrival at the front reception or pit stop. To ensure that patients are received and processed through the Department in line with key performance targets

Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to assist in the overall delivery of patient care. Required to work within a team or alone at times, often without direct supervision.Required to act on own initiative in situations of rapid decision making for example, requesting assistance from medical staff for acutely ill or seriously injured patients on arrival into the department and take immediate actions as required.

Responsible for booking of all emergency specialty follow-up outpatient appointments.

When appropriate arrange ambulance or (taxi on account) transport for patients, following discussion with the Nurse in Charge.

Required to demonstrate job role and mentor new starters or less experienced staff for an 8-week period as necessary.

Improving systems and processes to ensure the most efficient service is provided.

Responsible for planning and coordination of allocating, distributing and prioritising workloads of the PPA team to ensure consistent levels of service and provide consistent standards.

Provision with consultant colleagues of a service to Staffordshire, Derbyshire & surrounding areas with responsibility for diagnosis & treatment of patients at the hospitals & clinics at which you have duties, this may include clinics in community facilities.

Responsible for the continuing care and treatment of patients in your charge and personal performance of clinical duties as agreed in your job plan, allowing for all proper delegation to & training of your staff.

Provision of an out-of-hours service with consultant colleagues including on-call rota commitments. There may be an element of resident on-call component subject to departmental requirements.

Whole time appointment with a work commitment of 10 PA’s per week, including a 1:14 on-call rota for Obstetrics

Responsible for compliance with personal continuing professional development requirements with the support of the Trust. It is mandatory for all Consultants to keep up to date with evidence based practice.

Responsible for maintaining awareness of & acting in accordance with professional guidelines such as “Duties of a Doctor”, “Good Medical Practice”, & the “GMC Performance Procedures” .

Exceptional requirements to undertake additional duties for limited periods within geographical area specified above or undertake duties at other hospitals in the event of a major disaster or incident.
