Our Estates team is looking to recruit a highly motivated and flexible Mechanical Craftsperson to join our Estates Team at Bedford Hospital. Duties will include carrying out preventative and reactive maintenance to a wide range of building services and equipment. The ability to take part in the on call rota and work overtime is an essential part of this role. Please note that due to participation in the on call rota it is necessary for you to live within a 15 miles radius of the site.

Key Responsibilities
• Identify, diagnose and rectify faults, and carry out repairs and planned maintenance of a general nature of mechanical services, plant and equipment including but not limited to: steam raising plant, air conditioning/ventilation systems, heating systems, water and drainage systems, macerators, catering equipment, ward equipment, decontamination equipment.
• Carry out reactive and planned maintenance of a more complex nature in the buildings engineering services related to the core skill of the post holder.

Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust provides hospital services to a growing population of around 700,000 people living across Bedfordshire and the surrounding areas across two busy hospital sites in Bedford and Luton. Both hospital sites offer key services such as A&E, Obstetrics-led Maternity and Paediatrics.

All new staff will be subject to a probationary period covering their first six months in post. Travel between hospital sites may be required.

• Work closely with the Head of Integration and Transformation / Deputy Head of Integration and Transformation to ensure all programmes of work are co-ordinated effectively
• Work with in partnership with the Clinical Service Lines to embed an improvement culture throughout the organisation, ensuring that sustainable change is embedded in everyday operational business
• To provide expertise and support to the Clinical Service Lines to ensure changes are managed in a planned and smooth manner
• Work across and develop relationships with multiple stakeholders, multi-disciplinary teams and in conjunction with system partners, including the ICB and Primary Care
• Managing change/transformation projects and business cases which will deliver objectives
• To make effective links and assess the impacts and co-dependencies of current and emergent issues which may influence the programme / change portfolio
