Position Summary
As the Absence Product Senior Manager, you will collaborate on all aspects of Guardian’s Absence product portfolio, working in close partnership with the Absence Product Lead. In alignment with the overarching Group Benefits strategy, you will help support the development and execution of product strategies to drive market-leading growth and deliver value to our customers and stakeholders.
You will play a critical role supporting the group benefits efforts to remain competitive in a rapidly changing Absence marketplace, which will include monitoring and responding to evolving client needs, state and federal policy changes, and the competitive landscape.
You will partner closely with strategy, sales, account management, finance, underwriting, claims, technology, and operations to construct resonant and differentiated end-to-end product value propositions, deliver strong economic value, and ensure effective operational delivery. You will actively monitor all aspects of the value stream from quote to claim for the Absence product portfolio and the competitive landscape, applying knowledge gained to enhance existing products and design innovative new product & features that position Guardian as a market leader.
You will:
Overseeing all aspects of Guardian’s Absence product portfolio, you will:
- Partner closely with your manager, the Absence Product Lead, to execute the product strategy and multi-year roadmap. The roadmap will be inclusive of all necessary maintenance activities, planned enhancements to the products & related capabilities, and new development activities.
- Partner with business partners to identify new features and enhancements that will result in improved client & member experience, increased sales, participation, and persistency
- Lead and collaborate with cross functional teams to execute the product strategy through collaboration with underwriting, sales, marketing, enrollment, service, claims, IT and finance
- Support strategic planning processes to ensure product positioning capitalizes on revenue opportunities.
- Manage products in market to ensure they are performing as desired by developing and monitoring key metrics and having collaborative discussions with distribution, underwriting and pricing
- Work closely with technology and operations to define capabilities and processes required to effectively execute and deliver the products and capabilities to partners, stakeholders, and customers
- Bring external insights into the organization for the purpose of understanding evolving client & member needs and marketplace trends
You are:

You have:
- 7+ years of experience in Group Insurance product or similar role, with 2+ years of experience working with Absence products
- Deep knowledge of competitive practices and trends in the Absence market
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills; ability to manage and execute simultaneous projects and tasks
- Technical understanding of product and customer requirements along with the ability to lead large- and small-scale product development initiatives
- Highly effective negotiation and influencing skills; proven ability to influence across a diverse group of stakeholders
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and relationship building skills, the ability to interact and influence cross functionally, build relationships, and drive change
- Highly analytical, with strong critical thinking skills
- At least a four-year degree in marketing, business, or related field

Salary Range
$95,060.00 - $156,170.00
The salary range reflected above is a good faith estimate of base pay for the primary location of the position. The salary for this position ultimately will be determined based on the education, experience, knowledge, and abilities of the successful candidate. In addition to salary, this role may also be eligible for annual, sales, or other incentive compensation.
