This role will be supporting the Diversified Industries segment. At BMO Commercial Bank, we understand agriculture—the cyclical nature of its industries, its volatile commodity prices, the impact of varying weather conditions and especially the diverse and unexpected industry shocks that can affect agricultural businesses. What Will You Do?
As a Portfolio Manager, you will facilitate decisioning and analysis of all types of credit information to support lending decisions and processes for the bank. You will maintain and promote a client service environment to satisfy and exceed customer needs and expectations. You will make credit decisions and recommendations in accordance with sound credit-granting principles and in compliance with Bank Policies & Procedures.
- Coordinate the preparation of lending proposals and pitches to prospective clients with efforts to maximize business and returns
- Negotiate transactions with clients and provides deal structuring expertise
- Partner with internal stakeholders for accurate and detailed client information and provides accurate financial analysis and risk assessment of new and existing customers
- Participate in the development of financial models and other analytical tools to assist clients in evaluating capital structure
- Be up to date on financing trends in target clients' markets and share with team
- Develop credit information to make lending decisions on new, renewal and enhancement loans
- Exercise judgment utilizing assigned credit authority to provide comprehensive client solutions within bank risk tolerances
- Minimize BMO’s risk exposure by adhering to internal credit policies and procedures with respect to lending decisions. Influences and negotiates to achieve strategic business initiatives
- Act as the prime subject matter expert for internal/external stakeholders
- Act as a trusted advisor to assigned business/group
- Identify cross-selling opportunities to support a One Bank approach and provide comprehensive financial solutions to clients
- Prepare summary, present facts and offer opinions concerning credit worthiness
- Conduct independent analysis and assessment to resolve strategic issues
- Apply deep expertise in bank products, processes, and systems and effectively trouble shooting to ensure a high-quality client experience
- Serve as a daily escalation resource to ensure client expectations are met or exceeded
- Recommend and implement solutions based on analysis of issues and implications for the business
- Oversee preparation of concise, well reasoned credit correspondence
- Oversee documentation and ongoing monitoring of asset and client performance
What Do You Need to Succeed?
- 10+ years of relevant experience
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Robust knowledge and technical proficiency gained through financial services experience
- Strong analytical skills and ability to problem solve and make data-driven decisions
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to effectively collaborate and influence

Compensation and Benefits:
$120,000.00 - $222,600.00

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
