NHS Lancashire & South Cumbria Talking Therapies for anxiety and depression offer this exciting opportunity to train to become a qualified Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP).
We are looking to recruit a number of trainee PWPs to work in many of our Lancashire & South Cumbria teams:
Barrow in Furness
Blackburn With Darwen
Burnley
Chorley and South Ribble
Hyndburn and Rossendale
Lancaster and Morecambe
Pendle and Ribble Valley
Preston
South Lakes (Kendal)
The Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner training course will commence in March 2025 (at University of Central Lancashire) for 12 months. Following successful completion of the training year, the qualified PWPs will be offered a permanent Band 5 PWP role – please note this may be in a different team to the placement (subject to obtaining professional registration within 6 months of receipt of certificate of qualification) .
The training is rigorous and aims to equip individuals to be able to deliver high quality and effective Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) based self-management interventions to clients with common mental health problems.
Before applying please ensure you meet these minimum requirements: -
• Evidence of either recent Level 6 study (degree level) from a recognised institute of higher education for postgraduate study or evidence of Level 5 study (diploma level) for graduate study
• Evidence of working with people who have experienced a common mental health problem
• An understanding of anxiety and depression including the wider impact for the whole person
• All trainees must be able to complete the required training days, and be able to carry out the academic assignments required for the course outside of paid hours
• All trainees will need to be able to attend training at UCLan in Preston and also their local team placement base (in Lancashire or South Cumbria) in person
• All trainees will commit to work for LSCFT for a minimum of 2 years post-qualification, failing which you may be required to repay the salary for days at university during your academic year.
• Once qualified as a PWP, it is a requirement for the role to register with BPS or BABCP within 6 months of receipt of certificate of qualification and thereafter to maintain professional body registration for the duration of your employment as a qualified PWP.

The interviews for these posts will be carried out via video conferencing using Microsoft Teams.
