KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Leadership and Strategic Support
- Support the CEO and Trust Board in achieving strategic objectives and uphold Trust values through visible leadership.
- Provide financial expertise and support in Trust strategic planning, financial strategies, and self-evaluation processes.
- Lead financial planning for new schools and growth initiatives, ensuring smooth integration into Trust systems.

2. Financial Oversight and Compliance
- Oversee and manage the Trust's financial systems, ensuring compliance with Trust policies, ESFA regulations, and financial best practices.
- Provide accurate financial reports, forecasts, and budget projections for the Trust Board, Finance Committee, and stakeholders.
- Lead procurement processes and maintain efficient finance systems to ensure value for money across the Trust.

3. Team Management and Development
- Lead and manage the finance team, including recruitment, training, and ongoing professional development.
- Support Headteachers and finance contributors across the Trust to ensure they meet financial objectives and comply with finance policies.
- Foster a collaborative environment, providing guidance and motivation to drive team effectiveness and continuous improvement.

4. Performance Monitoring and Standards
- Monitor financial performance of Trust academies, identify improvement areas, and ensure actions are taken to support school effectiveness.
- Advise on resource allocation and financial policy changes to support schools in achieving educational goals and financial stability.
- Engage with external agencies, regulatory bodies, and local authorities to enhance Trust performance and compliance.

5. Growth and Development
- Conduct financial due diligence and risk assessments for new or transferring schools, ensuring comprehensive project management and smooth transitions.
- Support resource generation strategies to secure additional funding and resources for Trust development.

6. Financial Systems and Reporting
- Ensure the effectiveness of finance management systems, including budget planning, capital investments, and cash flow management.
- Oversee the preparation of monthly and annual accounts, ensuring accuracy and adherence to deadlines.
- Manage compliance with regulatory requirements for audits, VAT, pensions, and financial statements.

7. Stakeholder Relationships and Collaboration
- Develop strong relationships with ESFA, DfE, local authorities, and Trust personnel to promote effective communication and knowledge sharing.
- Provide financial advice and professional accounting expertise to staff, ensuring capability across finance operations.

A Family Group Conference (FGC) is a family led meeting, supported by their wider network in which people come together to plan for a child/ren. The process is supported by an independent and impartial co-ordinator who helps the family prepare.

The role of the Senior is to support the team to deliver the service in line with the organisational strategy and to supervise and support the FGC team in the development and delivery of Northamptonshire Children’s Trust Family Group Conferencing Service. As part of the role the post holder will line manage and deliver supervision to 4 FCG co-ordinators and 1administator.

This role will be required to support families to make realistic, safe, and robust plans for the protection of their children and to enable families to care for their children within their own family and friend’s network.

What will you be doing?

About you

- Family Group Conference Trained/qualified, and experience of delivering FGC’s

- A deep understanding of the complex issues faced by children and young people at the edge of care, and what works to create and maintain safe, stable and sustained outcomes.

- Proven experience in supervising or supporting staff to deliver whole family interventions.

- Extensive, hands-on experience in preventative work with children and families facing escalating needs, with demonstrated ability to assess risks, safeguard, and intervene effectively.

- Enhanced DBS Clearance.

What will you be doing?

- Responsible for safeguarding and always promoting the welfare of children and raising any concerns if they arise without delay.

- Promote collaborative decision-making by working with the children and parents/carers to identify wider family/friends’ network who will be invited to the conference to support parents to make informed decisions that will safeguard their children

- Identify the wishes and feelings of the children, to support them to attend the conference and ensure that their voices are heard. To advocate on behalf of or identify advocates for other vulnerable adults to ensure that their voices are heard.

- Co-ordinate and Chair Family Group Conferences within timescales. Manage difficult situations that may occur at the conference, support families to resolve conflict and focus on the needs to the child.

- Undertake risk assessments when visiting family members and to maintain the safety of all participants attending the conference.

- To ensure that reasonable care is always taken and work to comply, comply with the policies and procedures of the Northamptonshire Children’s Trust this includes promoting and contributing to all practices and policies including Health and Safety, Safeguarding, Prevent, on-line safety, and Equality and Diversity.

About you

- Level 3 qualification in working with children, young people vulnerable adults and their families.

- A deep understanding of the complex issues faced by children and young people at the edge of care, and what works to create and maintain safe, stable and sustained outcomes.

- Proven experience of direct work with families with multiple problems and working with families who find it difficult to engage with services.

- Knowledge and training in Early Help and Integrated Working.

What will you be doing?

The role entails working closely with both the Senior Practitioner, and practitioners to ensure that administrative work is collated and maintained in an efficient and productive manner, to support the interventions being delivered to families we work with. This includes, but is not limited to, collecting and formatting data, booking and arranging meetings and liaising with linked professionals where necessary.

What will you be doing?

You will be required to organise, supervise, record and assess child Family Time with the needs and safety of the child as the paramount concern.

You will work as part of a team, carrying out and developing the duties and responsibilities of this post, liaising with parents/carers and professionals to ensure that Family Time meets the changing needs of children and families that reside within Northamptonshire.

You will be required to work approximately one Saturday a month on a rota basis and be flexible to ensure the needs of children and families are met.

Your base location will be aligned to your home, and you will be expected to travel across and outside of Northamptonshire.

About you

Ideally you should have some knowledge of the Children Act 1989 and of current social care practice and child protection procedures.
