The post holder will be expected to play an active role in all aspects of the anaesthetics and critical care team commitments. The post holder will be working on a 1 in 8 resident on-call rota with prospective cover on a full shift pattern. While on-call the post-holder will cover intensive care unit or anaesthesia for emergency operations in the operating theatres or obstetrics. The departments activities cover a range of surgical specialties including General Surgery, Day Case Surgery, Orthopaedics, Gynaecology, Plastics, Dental and Maxillofacial surgery. A consultant led service for ICU, Obstetrics,Acute & Chronic Pain is also provided. The department is recognised by the Royal College of Anaesthetists for Schedule l Training. It is the responsibility of the post-holder to ensure that all duties are carried out to the highest possible standard and in accordance with current quality initiatives within the area of work. Day-to-day management of patients, including liaising with multi-disciplinary team. Responsible for undertaking the administrative duties associated with the care of patients. Work cooperatively with colleagues and to respect their contribution to patient care. Ensure accurate record of patient care episodes and outcomes as well as effective communication with nursing and professional staff in relation to patient care. Professional supervision and management of junior medical staff. Applicants must be fully registered with the General Medical Council (London) with a license to practice. Possession of the primary FRCA or equivalent is desirable. Applications from clinicians unable to work full-time will also be considered.
