Role:

To maintain a clean and hygienic environment for Trust staff, patients and their visitors in line with the National Standards of Cleanliness.

Job Purpose:

To deliver a full cleaning service to wards, offices and departments within the hospital at the prescribed times and in accordance with Work Schedules and activity within the area, using own initiative to plan workload.

Main Tasks are:

Empty and dispose of domestic and clinical waste in accordance with the Trust’s Infection Control and Waste Disposal Policies.

Carry out general cleaning tasks i.e. damp dusting of all furniture, fixtures, fittings, skirting’s and interior glass doors.

Carry out high and low level dusting of walls, ledges, perimeter fittings, paintwork.

Clean all sanitary fittings and fixtures.

Supply and replenish consumables i.e. paper towels, toilet rolls, soap etc.

Clean and maintain floor areas/surfaces using the appropriate equipment.

Clean the kitchen, fixtures and appliances.

Clean and maintain Cleaning Store and equipment.

As required and under supervision respond to any requests for ad-hoc and specialist cleaning, adhering to Infection Control Guidelines.

Other Duties:

Report any mechanical defects, pest sightings or building/environment faults to a supervisor.

Collect and return keys after securing door, windows and exits.

Use all PPE as required.

Maintain a high standard of personal hygiene and be presentably dressed at all times wearing the correct uniform and identification.

Use and care of approved cleaning materials and equipment at all times in accordance with the operator instructions.

Maintain appropriate levels of chemicals and equipment in area of work.

OPAL House is a specialist reablement unit based at Wythenshawe Hospital in south Manchester designed to support older people in the transition from the acute hospital site to their own home following a period of acute illness. You will undertake occupational therapy assessment and treatment with the specific aim to instil functional independence and support their physical and mental wellbeing.

You need to have specialist assessment and treatment skills to support and inform discharge plans. You will be able to manage a varied caseload autonomously and be able to work within a multidisciplinary team.

You will support the Senior Practitioner in the day-to-day running of the team and contribute to service development. You will have an interest in working in frailty and acute medicine.

You will supervise staff including band 4 Therapy Technicians. You will support, train and educate others. You will maintain your own continuing professional development. You will be supported to develop personally and professionally within this role.

To perform occupational therapy assessment of patients with diverse presentations and complex physical and psychological conditions, and ensure safe and effective discharge. To develop and deliver individualised assessment and treatment programme. This will involve liaison with community services, day services, the voluntary sector and other service providers.

To be responsible for the management your own caseload, with support and supervision as required. Supervision takes the form of regular formal training and clinical reasoning sessions, peer review and case conferences.

To be able to carry out comprehensive generic therapy assessments and interventions in line with best practice such as the Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment framework, in a ward setting, identifying required interventions, supporting timely discharge and directing patients towards the most appropriate pathways of care.

To undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner.

To supervise, educate and assess the performance of occupational therapy students (this would be to a graduate standard and involve working with universities to ensure the level of clinical practice and teaching meets the standards set by the degree level qualification). This role is supported through access to a clinical educator’s course if required.

To support the therapy team lead in the ongoing development of the OPAL House therapy service.

Applications are invited for a Senior Locally Employed Doctor in Heart failure or Advanced Echocardiography within the Cardiology department in the Manchester Heart Institute. The post is based at Wythenshawe Hospital.
Due to the short-term nature of the role, the successful candidate must hold a current registration with the GMC at the time of application, whether it be an active licence, ceased licence or a pending application - MFT cannot support GMC Sponsorship for vacancies less than 12 months fixed term. Heart failure both new onset and chronic which requires close management to avoid admission. The role also takes part in the WTWA senior on call rota supporting cardiology and the emergency
primary PCI service which covers all of GM.

You should have undergone at least 3 years specialist training in general cardiology and have some experience in Heart Failure or
echocardiography.
This post is ideal for someone wishing to enhance their sub-specialty knowledge and experience in either Heart Failure and will include exposure to the catheter labs, outpatient clinics and supporting the inpatient wards.
The successful candidate will receive advanced training in heart failure . Experience working in a cardiology department in the UK will be important for this post due to the busy and challenging nature of the work of a registrar in our tertiary cardiac centre.

The main focus of this role is to improve and be trained in Heart Failure or under the supervision of the consultant team.
There is an expectation of the successful postholder to fully contribute to Heart Failure service at Wythenshawe Hospital.
Furthermore, the postholder will support the consultant team with specific outpatient clinics, which will be selected to complement the postholder's
training needs in conjunction with supporting the service with its secondary and tertiary centre work.
There is also a commitment to the Cardiology middle-grade on-call rota, which supports the hospital's acute inpatient work and the wider Greater
Manchester footprint as a key point of contact for the tertiary centre.

An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Locally Employed Doctor to join the MFT Thoracic Surgery service, based at Wythenshawe Hospital. The post have been created following expansion of lung cancer screening services across Greater Manchester, and at a time of considerable growth for the Thoracic Surgery service, which remains one of the largest lung surgery centres within the UK and the only service in Greater Manchester.

It is an exciting time to join our team. Our Thoracic Surgery team will be performing more than 900 anatomical lung resections per year and around 50% of those resections are performed using minimally invasive techniques, including Robotically Assisted Thoracic Surgery (RATS).

The team consists of 9 cardiothoracic registrars, who are a combination of Senior Clinical Fellows (SCFs), Associate Specialists and Higher Surgical Trainees (HSTs). The number of HSTs in the department at any time ranges from two to five. All colleagues working on this rota will be allocated to a named consultant surgeon and will undertake their core activities with that named consultant. This will include pairing with the named consultant surgeon of the week (as named Registrar of the Week RoW). Consultant & registrar pairings will be rotated on a 6 or 12-monthly basis. SCFs are afforded the same training opportunities as HSTs. The successful candidate can expect to attend operating theatres and outpatient clinics on a regular basis, with the opportunity to gain experience across the spectrum of thoracic surgery.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 6 Junior Sister/Charge Nurse to join our team on Acute Cardiac Centre. We are looking for a highly motivated and innovative nurse to work and lead our team to help deliver high quality care to our patients.

ACC is a 19 bedded coronary care unit, which specialises in the care of patients with heart failure, adult congenital heart disease, and those who have undergone advanced cardiology interventions in our cardiac catheter labs following a number of advanced cardiology interventions such as primary PCI.

- Reccurrent miscarriage – Regular GOPD clinics

To date 9 SAS doctors have been employed by SMH, 6 of these attempted and successfully achieved CESR. Clinical Research Fellow in Paediatric Inherited Metabolic disease

To work as an integral part of the Discharge to Assess team to provide a high quality patient centred approach to adults in the community in South Manchester. The aim of the post is to enable patients to have assessments and treatment plans carried out in their own homes following discharge from an acute hospital setting. You would be part of a multi-disciplinary health & social care team who work towards regaining or maintaining independence and quality of life. The post holder will have an allocated caseload of patients under the supervision of a registered professional.

Working under the supervision of Registered Nurses and within Trust guidelines & protocols, you’ll assist in delivering the excellent patient care you would expect for yourself and your loved ones.

Your duties will involve supporting patients with personal care needs and will involve traveling to patients’ homes from various locations. Duties also includes, collecting patients from the ward with D2A vehicle and driver. You will occasionally be required to drive the D2A vehicle when the driver is unavailable.

Following on the job training & assessment, you’ll learn how to undertake a range of delegated, duties that include recording patient observations & changes to clinical conditions.

The role of a theatre practitioner is to provide high standards of peri-operative care to patients whilst giving skilled support to surgeons, anaesthetist and the theatre team. Theatre practitioners need a broad knowledge and skill base, including excellent communication, management and teamwork skills as they are involved with the assessment, delivery and evaluation of care ensuring the safety and comfort of patients throughout their perioperative journey.

Surgery

You’ll play an important part of the surgical team by preparing all the necessary equipment for surgery.

You will ensure the correct safety checks are carried out prior to the start of the procedure and are responsible for all surgical instruments, equipment, and swabs during the operation.

You will become efficient and effective in anticipating the requirements of the surgical team and responding effectively ensuring high standards of clinical outcome and best patient experience.

Anaesthetic

To help and support patients before surgery, preparing a wide range of specialist equipment and drugs, including anaesthetic machines, intravenous equipment and devices that safely secure the patient's airway during anaesthesia.

Recovery

You’ll support and monitor patient on arrival to the recovery area and provide appropriate treatment until they have recovered from the effects of the anaesthesia and/or surgery; assessing and treating the patient until they are discharged to a ward.

Are you an RN with an interest in complex health and the management of the acutely unwell patient and looking for a role at Wythenshawe Hospital?

We are looking for nurses with a passion for working with patients with complex needs.

Do you feel you could deliver a high level of care to patients in an acute setting and provide up-to-date knowledge and skills to your colleagues on the management of patients with complex needs?

Ward A3 is a orthopedic ward, caring for both elective and trauma patients. The ward also cares for silver trauma patients. It consists of 28 beds. The ward works using a multidisciplinary approach and are looking for new team members who have an interest in frailty and caring for the older person with complex needs.

The post holder will assess, plan, evaluate and deliver all relevant aspects of patient care in a caring, compassionate and sensitive manner.

Work closely with the multi-disciplinary team and contribute to the clinical governance process.

Act as a mentor/preceptor to junior staff, with specific responsibility for pre-registration students.

The post holder will take delegated responsibility for the management of the clinical team and the maintenance of high standards of quality patient care on a shift basis.

The post holder will be based in the Outpatient Musculoskeletal team at North Manchester General and will be part of a supportive team with an interest in service development and teaching .

The successful candidate will carry an independent caseload of patients with musculoskeletal, hand and wrist and rheumatological problems, and deliver a high standard of evidence-based physiotherapy. There are opportunities to experience running rehabilitation groups , as well as seeing patients in a clinic environment. The team also support the Employee Health and well being MSK service for staff.
• Delivery of evidence-based physiotherapy management of patients with musculoskeletal/Rheumatological presentations
• Supervision of less experienced staff, such as rehab assistants and band 5 physiotherapists
• Clinical mentorship of student physiotherapists
• Service development projects, such as audit and quality improvement programmes
• Participate in orthopaedic weekend rota
