The Finance and Planning Directorate in NHS England is looking for talented, diverse, highly motivated people to join the Primary Care, Community Servies, Vaccines and Screening Finance and Planning Business Partner team as Senior Lead Finance and Planning Business Partnering (Primary Care)
This is a fantastic opportunity to be at the heart of work to support the NHS. We:
· work closely with government to agree NHS funding;
· ensure the NHS lives within its annual budget set by Parliament;
· decide how to distribute the funding to the different NHS services and parts of England;
· support innovative programmes that improve the care and experience of NHS patients or people using NHS services;
· set out the financial and performance priorities the NHS should be delivering each year;
· report how much the NHS has spent on providing services each year;
· explore how the NHS can make the best use of its money;
· look at howspend on building or equipment can improve the care and experience of people using NHS services.
· consider how nationally we use these resources to improve healthcare outcomes, reduce inequality, improve health and support the NHS.

You will lead a team of four, experienced, finance business partners responsible for ensuring that our monthly and annual primary care finance reporting is accurate, with the information interpreted in a way that supports internal decision-making from finance and non-finance colleagues.
You will be the lead finance business partner for assigned areas of primary care and will be expected to gain an in-depth understanding the policy and operational plans for these areas. You will need to build strong relationships with colleagues in our primary care directorate in particular to deliver on this.
You will use this understanding and these relationships to ensure there is robust and complete financial forecasting and identification of risks and opportunities for these areas.
You will also be responsible for ensuring the robustness of forecasts produced by your team, and other colleagues in our primary care finance team. You will be responsible for bringing the work of the team together to give the overall financial picture for the directorate we support.

Colleagues with a contractual office base are expected to spend, on average, at least 40% of their time working in-person.
As a Senior Lead Finance and Planning Business Partnering (Primary Care) you will work closely with senior finance, operations, commissioning, and policy colleagues nationally, regionally, and at ICBs. You, and the team you work with, will be responsible for supporting these colleagues in our work to deliver high quality, value for money care for patients in primary care that is affordable within our budgets. You will gain an in-depth understanding of our national primary care plans and performance, and translate this into a robust financial picture to support accurate and timely decision-making.
