About the role
The ideal candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to:
• Auditing daily plant performance efficiency’s and KPI’s and advise facility management of deviations from specified settings.
• Preparing data and reports and lead the weekly production meetings to review plant performance and discussing improvement and recovery plans
• Developing and manage the Facility Production Action Items list
• Working closely with the Regional Engineering/Operations and Corporate Process Engineering groups.
• Modifying and tuning combustion and process controls to improve plant stability, production, and environmental performance.
• Reviewing all changes with the regional Engineering/Operations group prior to implementing.
• Working with the Regional Engineering/ Operations and the Productivity group to assure all plant performance goals are met.
• Staying connected to recommendations in Boiler Condition Assessment Reports generated by the Boiler Reliability Group. These reports are updated with each major outage.
• Looking for issues that may have resulted from combustion or process issues.
• Challenging the performance of the facility and its component systems through the use of available engineering resources, operating history and industry standards and practices.
• Ensuring that facility management is presented with such challenges in a clear manner and supportive of their operating requirements.
• Coordinating and prioritizing all resources necessary to guide the technical progress of the facility and ensure that it adheres to a path of sound operating and engineering practice as well as complying with the company O&M philosophy. Resources may include the use of third party services where they do not exist or are in short supply within the organization.
• Coordinating the review and approval of any physical changes to the facility.
• Managing projects through all phases, including conceptual design, detailed design, writing of equipment and construction specifications, selection of equipment and contractors, and managing the construction phase.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree (BSE required)
• 5 years Power Plant O&M, strongly preferred
• Demonstrated hands on process engineering experience
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Experience with rotating equipment (turbines, pumps, fans) is preferred.
• Strong computer skills
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suites (i.e. Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
• Excellent time management skills: ability to multi-task, organize, and prioritize work with a sense of urgency
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English (i.e., spelling, punctuation, grammar, etc.)
• Proficient in presenting information to individuals and small or large audiences
• Reasoning/Critical thinking skills: ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Must be able to deal with problems involving variables in standardized situations.
• Self-starter – must be able to demonstrate ability to be proactive with problem-solving skills and ownership of tasks and initiatives.
• Ability to work schedule on-site regularly
The expected annual salary for this position is between $92,840-135,000 . This is a good-faith estimate of what we expect to pay for this position. The final salary figure will take into account a variety of factors including experience, ability, and location. Covanta is committed to paying its staff equitably, and these ranges should not be considered career salary limits or caps.
