Key responsibilities include:

• Experience with Tech Transfer, Process Design, and Commissioning & Qualification.
• Experience with validation and change control methodology.
• Direct experience with regulated environments (i.e. cGMP, OSHA, EPA) including detailed understanding of cGMPs.
• Position requires excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work with minimum direction.
• Demonstrated interpersonal and facilitation skills and ability to work in a collaborative team-based environment.

Job Description

This Engineer position is in the Thermal Engineering group under Combination Product Operations. This position requires the application of diverse and advanced engineering & scientific principles in support of transportation testing and operation within Amgen.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing transportation lab operation and performing lab related testing. The individual will actively participate in multi-functional teams to qualify shipping solutions that meet Amgen’s expanding business need and serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for addressing and resolving technical issues or challenges related to cold chain shippers. In addition, the individual will lead the management of CAPA/Deviation/Change-control activities; perform technical assessment and studies; write technical reports, manuals, specifications, SOPs, and bill-of-materials with minimal supervision. This position also carries responsibilities for managing collaborative relationships with internal customers and external partners.

Responsibilities

• Complete all lab related testing per test protocols in accordance with operating standards, SOPs and regulatory requirements, while understanding safety precautions.

• Familiarity with lab testing equipment, e.g., Compression Tester, Vibration Systems, Environmental Chambers, Vacuum Systems, and Drop Tester.

• Responsible for planning and scheduling all lab related activities, such equipment calibration, maintenance, lab tour, etc.

• Manage lab budget/expense and supply inventory levels to satisfy testing demand.

• Able to solve and perform general maintenance on equipment to keep a test running.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (i.e. Research and Development, QA/QC, Supply Chain, Maintenance, Manufacturing, Regulatory) on protocol review, testing preparation, change control process, deviation & CAPA, and controlled documentation.

• Assist other Engineers with internal experiments and studies; provide guidance on test method to be used.

Responsibilities:

The Mechanical Engineer will be an integral part of the core engineering team and will be responsible for mechanical design, modeling, creating/tracking engineering and production drawings and supporting all document control needs at Teledyne Electronic Safety Products aerospace programs located in Chatsworth, CA
 
The position is estimated to be 70% management of drawings / drawing changes / program data items and 30% mechanical design engineering.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
 

• Designs and develops component and assemblies using 2D and 3D solid modeling software for electrical and mechanical system assemblies.

• Support and work closely with the production and planning departments to minimize delays and downtime by tracking and releasing production flow travelers, engineering change orders, assembly instructions/drawings and other critical documentation and processes.

• Work with a multi-faceted team of Electrical and Software engineers to analyze and develop robust solutions that fulfill customer and program requirements.

• Collaborate and contribute to the system design and component selection to ensure the best possible solution.

• Processing & release of drawings / support of drawing filing and storage.

• Must be able to read and interpret and work from engineering drawings, schematics, sketches, notes and verbal direction. 

• Prepares and analyses detailed mechanical tolerance analysis.

• Participates in brainstorm sessions to help offer new ideas, solutions.

Requirements:

In this role the Sr Engineer is responsible for planning, design, construction, operations, maintenance, and technical support of Amgen manufacturing infrastructure, world-wide. The Engineering Technical Authority (TA) is responsible for technical direction, leadership, guidance, and support for a specific array of process systems within an area of responsibility, such as Upstream Processes, Downstream Processes, Fill/Finish, CIP/SIP, Clean Utilities, Utilities, HVAC, Packaging, Devices, etc. Through their team(s) of global and site technical domain experts, the TA will bring to bear engineering expertise both in the company and industry to optimize the life cycle management of Amgen’s assets and is accountable for performance and reliability across multiple sites. This position is in the Process System Engineering team, the position is for Formulation and Filling Systems with responsibility for technical leadership to formulation, aseptic filling and lyophilization operations for the manufacture of biopharmaceuticals.

Planning: Working with clients, as appropriate (e.g., PD, Quality, Manufacturing), develop and specify engineering standards, specifications, equipment selection and design. Develop metrics to support procurement strategies for equipment, inventory management, spares, and preventative maintenance. Manage and track changes to specifications and standards, and system configuration. Support new technology’s introduction for Formulation, Lyophilization process, Filling and Packaging equipment’s.

Design: Ensure alignment to standards and good engineering practices. Lead design of new systems in support of projects and new technology deployment. Ensure designs optimize the total life cycle of the asset, from both a cost and effectiveness standpoint.

Construction: Use their TA network to provide engineering support during the construction process, including responses to RFIs, resolving complex technical issues and conflicts, supporting overall project objectives.

Commissioning: Ensure commissioning and qualification standards are developed and used. Use their network to provide engineering support to commissioning and qualification.

Operations: Support development of, or approve operation procedures for the safe, efficient, and effective operations of systems. Review performance data and make recommendations for improvement of system operations. Support NC/CAPA investigations related to equipment failures.

Maintenance: Support systems failure analysis, approve maintenance standards and techniques. Support and review reliability and failure data, and implement actions to improve effectiveness, and reliability of systems. Develop, evaluate, approve, and document system changes. Assist the sites in system trouble shooting and take action as necessary to prevent future occurrence throughout network.

Management: Lead their technical authority network. Makes use of expertise at the site and corporate levels for solving problems and deploying solutions across all sites. Identify and resolve issues and conflicts. Provide mentoring of other members in their network. Ensure technical decisions for assigned systems are optimized with those managed by other TAs. Remain current on innovative for systems for adoption of new techniques and technology within Amgen. Represent Amgen with outside firms, technical societies, and regulatory bodies.

This role involves travel up to 40% including overnight stays

Position Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for driving test strategies, test plans, and test execution for Ciena’s WaveLogic Optical Modem. Additionally, the candidate will support field activities and frequently interact with customers, PLM, and R&D.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Develop comprehensive test plans to validate customer use-cases and product capabilities
• Build test environment for test execution while considering potential and likely interactions across different features of the product
• Perform validation testing activities
• Work and interact closely with subject matter experts to ensure testing of customer focused solutions, compliancy to specifications, and resolution of issues found during test phase
• Develop automation test cases for execution efficiency and augment existing automated test cases
• Support customer lab and field activities, and track issues to successful resolution
• Review customer-reported issues and feedback with appropriate subject matter experts from other groups to determine design improvements that can be made
• Diagnose and troubleshoot software issues, collaborating with customers and developers to identify root causes and implement effective solutions

Experience

• Familiarity with coherent optical modem concepts and optical networks
• Experience in a lab environment and with lab test equipment
• Prior experience in a development environment with experience testing in customer use cases and executing cross functional workflows using API micro services
• Experience in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues with optical and related networking equipment for external customers
• Experience with optical equipment or other related networking equipment with external customers

Skills

• Knowledge of automation languages such as Python and should be able to write, execute and fix automation scripts
• Understand hardware and embedded software design concepts
• Possesses the ability to independently conduct on-site troubleshooting of customer issues, collaborate with internal development teams to diagnose root causes and implement effective solutions
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with proficiency in troubleshooting
• Leadership capabilities and an aptitude for team-oriented development activities
