About The Role




Working as part of a team and assisting the Team Leader, you’ll be responsible for attending gas escapes and carrying out appropriate repairs. You’ll need to have exceptional customer service skills, be extremely enthusiastic and have the ability to promote safe working practice, whilst driving efficiency and maintaining compliant ways of working.

Your day to day duties will include:

- Assisting the Team Leader
- Attending gas leaks
- Groundwork
- Excavations and reinstatements
- Utilising appropriate signing, lighting and guarding
- Ensuring cable avoidance
- Delivering equipment and tools where required
- Patrol and plant protection
- Working on deep excavations up to 2.5m
- Working on a standby rota system

To carry out this role you must have a full valid drivers licence and be able to be clean shaven every day for health and safety

Our client are a leading main contractor with a full pipeline of work to sustain them over the next 15 years. As their workload increases for 2024, they are now seeking to add a critical role to their business, working on a large project in Sheffield.

Your new role

This role is for an experienced Senior Site Engineer working on one of their main Sheffield projects. Your main role will be to assist the operational teams in the delivery of complex building projects. You will be their engineering support, ensuring their civil and structural trades are completing their works in line with design and quality.
You must have previously worked on complex civil projects including; ground contamination, deep drainage, and piling.
Our client have a very collaborative and progressive culture, and you will be seen very much as an in house expert to support your trades in the technical challenges they face. You will NOT be expected to be on the tools in terms of setting out. Another core part of this role will be to assist their senior management in the management of the Site Engineers on site.

The ideal candidate is a degree-qualified engineer with a solid track record working for main contractors on large complex civil projects. You will have excellent inground and structural expertise and have a deep understanding of how critical these elements are to the success of a complex building project. You will have a professional approach and have previous experience of training graduate or junior construction managers (or engineers) and enjoy this part of the role.

Mechanical Package Engineer - What we are looking for

A mid-level to senior mechanical engineer within the process industry with a minimum of five years proven industry skills and work experience. You will join the Equipment Engineering department working on various process equipment packages for the production of renewable gases. Process equipment packages consist of various components coupled together to achieve a specified function within a process system (such as water purification, sea-water injection, desalination, crude oil distillation etc…)

In order to maintain the functionality, performance and reliability of a process system, every component included in the Package (e.g. pump, compressor, valve, pressure vessel, electric motor, Instrument, control system, etc…) will need to be specified accordingly.

Mechanical Pacakage Engineer - Responsibilities

The Package engineers' main objective will be a complete ownership of these various multidisciplinary units/equipment procured to build the system and sub-system packages. Ensuring the units/equipment selected are verified, certified, qualified, meets all statutory obligations and are fit for purpose for the life expectancy of the packaged system based on the contractual agreement. The package unit engineer shall also prepare the right technical documentation (datasheets and specification) of equipment to support proposals, FEED, detailed engineering and prototype test rigs.

Key interactions of the Package unit engineer are internally with project teams, procurement dept., compliance dept. quality dept. and other engineering disciplines. Externally with clients, vendors, suppliers and participate in bid clarification meetings.

About You

Mechanical Package Engineer - Knowledge and Experience

* Bachelor's or Master's degree level or equivalent, in Mechanical Engineering
* 5+ years' working experience in handling Packages like Chemical process packages, Cooling Tower, Water treatment packages, Material handling system equipment, compressor packages
* Competent with industry standards including ability to carry out calculations to BS, EN, ISO, ASME, API, etc…
* Good understanding of ATEX directives, Pressure Equipment Directive (PED) and Machinery Directive
* Ability to understand and review supplier documentation such as ITP's FAT's SAT's, test reports and interpret mill certificate, product certification etc…
* Solid experience of the design, selection and specification of all process system equipment i.e. pumps, vessels, heat exchangers, pipework, valves and fittings etc…

• A recognised industry qualification will be required, and previous experience is

Day to Day Duties:

• Ensure all PPM's is carried out in accordance with the maintenance specification and

documented in real time using the PDA to log start/wait/stop completion and travel

times with appropriate comments to evidence completion of work.

• Ensure that all relevant paperwork is completed regarding PPM, reactive and

breakdown works and that it is passed without delay to the contract administrator.

Complete supplementary documentation / E-Forms relating to the maintenance task

as dictated by your line manager.

• Update customers CAFM system in real time with start/wait/stop completion times

and provide full description of works undertaken, advising of any follow-on works

required.

• Ensure reactive tasks throughout the sites are completed and be proactive in

highlighting areas where improvements can be made. Identify and record all plant

failures using quotation forms and issues to line managers. This is to be indicated and

recorded within the CAFM system.

• Ensure that plant faults and defects are swiftly remedies to maintain plant in

serviceable order. In accordance with the delegated authority with the applicable

contract or authorised by the client.

• Ensure that suitable spares are available to carry out both maintenance and reactive

works. To provide parts lists and estimated timescales to carry out remedial works.

• Undertake Point of Work Risk Assessment (POWRA) prior to starting work

evidencing it is safe to proceed. Note any safety concerns using the AIMS system

What you'll be doing;

• Act as Technical Lead for selected Business Development opportunities through pre-qualification, concept design, internal approval, proposal submission and handover to construction. Ensuring all relevant departments are involved in the bid team and lead the development for a robust solution and offering.

What we're looking for;

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, Power Generation or similar engineering subject
• Experience of the energy industry in particular: building services, HVAC, BMS, steam raising plants, CHP, LTHW systems, Low carbon technology and heat networks
• AutoCAD experience for PIDs and schematics
• UK Driving licence
• Good understanding of thermal process, hydraulics, electrical distribution and controls to lead design reviews
• Able to articulate a good understanding of design concepts to lead the in-house team through the project development process.
• Experienced with project planning skills and capable of contributing to the development and negotiation of contract terms.
• Commercially astute with experience of costing models.
