Your new companyYou will be working for a well established and growing manufacturing business with a site based in Gloucester. The business produces quality products used across many industries and operates their production facility on a 24/7 basis. Due to their growth and their continuous production, they are looking for an additional Maintenance Engineer to join on a triple days shift pattern, Mornings 6-2; afternoons 2-10 and evenings 10-6.
Your new roleAs a Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for upkeeping the smooth operation of maintenance for the business's manufacturing equipment. You will play a pivotal role as part of the maintenance team where you will deliver on both planned maintenance and reactive maintenance activities.
Key responsibilities will include:

• Perform reactive and preventative maintenance
• Repair and diagnose electrical, mechanical and hydraulic issues with machinery
• Adhering to health and safety protocols
• Continuous improvement of maintenance procedures
• Helping to improve planned maintenance activities to reduce machinery downtime
• Liaising and assisting with maintenance colleagues and supporting apprentices
• Be involved in maintenance projects

What you'll need to succeedTo be successful, you will need to:

• Be an apprenticeship trained Maintenance Engineer in a relevant engineering field
• Have a few years of proven experience in a manufacturing environment
• Have the ability to work well in a team
• Excellent problem-solving skills and a strong attention to detail
• Be able to effectively perform electrical and mechanical maintenance, strong candidates will be those who are multi-skilled. But candidates who have more of an electrical or mechanical bias will also be considered.

Role & Responsibilities:

• Perform reactive and planned maintenance in a manufacturing environment, focusing on high-speed food processing, production, and packaging machinery
• Troubleshoot and repair industrial plant equipment, site services, and conveyors, drives, shafts, pumps, and compressors
• Implement a continuous improvement culture with lean manufacturing principles
• Conduct electrical and mechanical fault finding and planned maintenance activities
• Participate in project work, including machinery upgrades, new installations, and continuous improvements
• Work on various equipment types, including fillers, labellers, palletisers, sealers, pneumatics, PLC's, hydraulics, motors, gearboxes, power presses, printers, and forming machines

Requirements

• Ideal qualifications include a time-served apprenticeship or equivalent (minimum NVQ Level 3 Engineering)
• Practical experience in a food or FMCG/packaging industry environment
• Strong PLC troubleshooting skills
• Comfortable with large mechanical work, including fault finding and repair
• Ability to perform both electrical and mechanical fault finding
• Experience with industrial mechanical systems
• Familiarity with pneumatics, hydraulics, motors, gearboxes
