• The position serves as a healthcare engineering advisor, engineer consultant, engineer designer, contract administrator, project manager, construction coordinator, and instructor during the design and construction of all projects assigned.
• The position is responsible for providing healthcare engineering support to all assigned projects.
• The position is responsible for performing the duties of a Contracting Officer Representative (COR) on professional design and construction projects, training service staff on technical issues and assisting the service staff on the completion of technical and administrative issues regarding infrastructure related operations of the medical facility.

• Serves as Installation Management Branch Chief supporting DLA Disposition Services facilities.

• Maintains involvement in the planning, permitting, construction, commissioning, renovation, inspection, decommissioning, and/or demolition of structures, installed equipment, infrastructures, and their environmental systems.

• Serves as a senior facilities engineer and responsible for the Real Property Maintenance and Military Construction programs for regional DLA Disposition Services locations.
• Advises on all aspects of facilities engineering, including related professional mechanical, electrical, industrial, architectural, energy, environmental, and safety engineering and engineering management matters for assigned responsibilities.
• Responsible for project management, design, layout, construction maintenance, and repair of projects consisting of electrical, mechanical, industrial, and architectural systems.
• Prepares facility engineering project documentation including cost estimates, design alternatives, economic analyses, project development brochures and environmental assessments.
• Serves as a consultant to the Command Group and the Resource Board, answering technical questions, and provides advice, assistance and professional design reference for all assigned sites.

Position Purpose / Major Accountabilities:

• Conducts process development and process upscaling studies for new medical device products

• Runs studies to gain fundamental process understanding at a Y = f(x) level and uses this process knowledge to: improve yields, reduce defects, define specifications and define user requirements for equipment

• Analyzes data to assess the sources of variation in the process and understand the cause and effect relationship between factors and responses

• Documents study design, results, next steps and process knowledge / understanding

• Communicates results and next steps to various teams within R&D

• Supports process development timeline by completing tasks on schedule

• Collaborates and partners with associates from multiple disciplines, including Engineering, Development, Research and Production, to ensure project success

Additional Accountabilities:

• Designs, executes and analyzes Engineering Studies to be performed in the lab, pilot line and MTO production lines in areas including, but not limited to: Measurement System Evaluation (MSE, GR&R), Component of Variation Studies (COV) and Design of Experiments (DOE)

• Documents study designs using graphical sampling plans and Factor Relationship Diagrams (FRDs)

• Documents process knowledge and process investigations using Thought Maps and Process Maps

• Performs data analysis including process performance index (Ppk), ANOVA, regression, Chi-square, etc.

• Applies intermediate level principles of engineering and / or chemistry analysis, blends technical knowledge and manufacturing practices in providing solutions to problems

• Position may require international travel, particularly to Germany for periods of up to two weeks per year

• Positive attitude with good interpersonal skills and ability to support a team environment

Skills / Experience:

• Proficient in MS Office

• Work experience in FDA regulated industry, specifically medical devices or contact lenses (preferred)

• Experience in statistical analysis using JMP or Minitab and / or Lean Six Sigma Green Belt (or higher)

• Experience writing, executing and analyzing Engineering Studies (preferred)

• Experience with high-speed automation (preferred)

About this opportunity:

Cenovus is currently recruiting for a Site Operations Engineer at Foster Creek.

Working with the Manager, Operations Process Engineering, the Site Operations Engineer is responsible for supporting water treatment, steam generation and utilities. The successful candidate will apply their engineering knowledge and critical thinking skills to address safety, environmental, regulatory compliance or realize equipment optimization opportunities. The Site Operations Engineer will identify/scope opportunities and engineering projects to add business value by reducing residual risks, increasing capacity, or reducing OPEX.

This position will provide field level process engineering support to Operations at Foster Creek and Calgary-based Operations Process Engineers.

Work Environment:

• This is a full-time employee position working a shift of 7 days on 7 days off, 12 hours per day, Wednesday to Wednesday

• Foster Creek has full-service camp facilities

• Depending on your place of residence and your shift rotation, bus and/or air transportation to/from site is offered from designated departure points in select locations

• Foster Creek is serviced by flight Hubs in Calgary and Edmonton

What you’ll do:

• Identify capacity bottlenecks and optimization opportunities for water treatment, steam production, water balance, fuel gas balance and heat integration daily to ensure throughput is maximized and all regulatory requirements are being met.

• Provide technical support to Operations and Maintenance to resolve short-term operational issues in the steam generation, water treatment and utilities areas.

• Preliminary scoping, economic justification, & initiation of engineering projects, control and/or operational changes to address bottlenecks or increase capacity, reduce operating costs, handle chemical usage, and reduce safety or regulatory compliance risks.

• Complete or support work intake for process engineering investigations and management of change requests.

• Coordinate process trials (PTRs) for new chemicals or process optimization.

• Complete Construction Work Packages (CWPs) for small scope projects.

• Complete process simulations and/or engineering calculations to understand impact of potential process changes.

• Complete process release calculations to support process safety event incident investigations.

• Attend Process Hazard Assessments (PHAs), revalidation HazOps, Over Pressure Risk Assessments, and Risk Assessments for bypasses and abnormal Operation as a domain expert (SME).

• Develop and maintain advanced engineering models to track long-term fouling of steam generators, heat exchangers, ion exchange and after-filter vessels.

• Chair weekly Technical Meetings with Operations and key partners from the area work team.

Who you are:

• Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.

• Must be a registered with APEGA in good standing, as a P.Eng or an EIT

• A minimum of 4 years of process engineering related experience in Oil & Gas is required.

• A bachelor’s degree in engineering is required, with a strong preference for a degree in Chemical Engineering.

• Capable of working in a challenging environment with shifting priorities and deadlines.

• Exceptional interpersonal, communication, organization, and time management skills.

• Capable of working independently and collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team.

Position Description:

The Alcon team is looking for talented and motivated Co-ops to join us onsite for the Fall 2024 at the Johns Creek, GA location. Co-op duration is May/June - December

The Equipment Engineering co-op would be assigned projects that would consist of equipment upgrades and OEE improvements from the DSMFLEX platform. Some of these projects are safety related, others are quality improvements, and we also have performance driven opportunities with very short paybacks. There is opportunity to assist with the installation and qualification of the new equipment in the DSMFLEX expansion project.

Minimum Qualifications for Co-ops:

• Must be enrolled in an accredited university or college for at least one semester prior to co-op, and at least one additional semester following your co-op (May 2025 graduation date or later).

• Must be pursuing a Bachelor's level degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial or Chemical Engineering or related major.

• Academic performance: Minimum cumulative GPA 2.8/4.0

• Demonstrated leadership skills (i.e. extracurricular activities or projects)

As a Shift Controls Engineer, you will be trusted to support production operations by troubleshooting issues related to complex PLC Controls Systems, including electrical circuits and SCADA applications at our Johns Creek Manufacturing Facility!

In this role, a typical day will include:

• Identifying reoccurring issues and documenting details to aid in root cause analysis.

• Communicating and coordinating with production, maintenance, and engineering teams to meet business needs in a Safety, Quality & Performance (SQP) manufacturing environment.

• Providing technical support as needed, creating technical documentation including training materials and supporting change control document executions and required documentation.

• Supporting the technical reliability and availability of the production lines and automation systems through maintenance of the automation and electrical systems, support of equipment startups after planned downtime, and support of unplanned downtime of controls and electrical systems.

• Facilitating the technology transfer of knowledge from engineering to maintenance.

• Providing onsite controls support for production downtime issues.

• Assisting the Electro Mechanic (EM) and Production teams during startups from PMs and project / retrofit changes.

• Performing IPC and electrical panel PMs, Industrial Programmable Computer (IPC) rebuilds, Windows patching requirements, etc.

• Assisting in training and knowledge transfer of system changes related to project updates.

• Providing detailed reporting on ongoing controls related production issues and significant downtime events.

• Identifying system improvements and supporting corrective actions, providing technical training and support for sustained improvement.

What you’ll bring to Alcon:

• Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +8 yrs; Assoc.+4 yrs)

• The ability to fluently read, write, understand and communicate in English

• Work Hours: Night Shift: 3-2-2 work schedule (12 hours), 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM EST. Average of 42 hours per week.

Preferred Qualifications/Skills:

• Strong background in troubleshooting complex control systems in a highly automated environment. 

• Ability to build and configure IPC systems to be maintained on a network. 

• Excellent communication skills and ability to develop and conduct training courses. 

• Ability to analyze complex PLC software for troubleshooting purposes. 

• Positive attitude with strong interpersonal skills needed to support collaboration between multiple teams. 

• Qualifying experience in controls systems support.

Job Description:

Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations as well as organizational policies and procedures associated with environmental, health and safety of drum management and reconditioning operations. 

Key Responsibilities

• Manage all environmental permits necessary for the operation and manufacturing of drum reconditioning and drum management.
• Manage the following environmental programs: Hazardous Waste, Universal Waste, Air Permit, Stormwater, Wastewater, and EPCRA Tier II. This is inclusive of inspections, recordkeeping, and reporting.
• Maintain an Environmental Management System (EMS) which coordinates legal requirements and compliance tasks, establishes environmental objectives and targets, determines roles and responsibilities for environmental activities, and maintains a document and record system.
• Serve as a subject matter expert when collaborating with outside regulatory agencies.
• Ability to multi-task, maintains flexibility, and works independently with minimal supervision
• Contribute to the development of EH&S standard operating procedures, specifications and guidelines that drive a strong safety culture. 
• Design standards, processes and systems/tools to drive consistency, efficiency and quality of the EH&S system. 
• Research new EH&S technologies and procedures that could be utilized to improve the EH&S performance and culture.
• Lead key teams for alignment with the EHS Management System criteria which demonstrates the organizational commitment.  These teams serve to empower individual contributors and front line supervision while informing management and the executive committee.
• Lead and participate on EH&S walkthroughs and drive corrective and preventative actions.  
• Identify continuous improvement activities relative to EH&S and champion solutions aligned with site and department metrics and business objectives and strategies.
•  Effectively facilitate EH&S training and presentations including new employee orientation and external contractors. 
• Participate in any preliminary hazard assessments (PHAs) and/or hazard and operability (HAZOPs) studies of processes and/or materials per Corporate Procedures and guidelines.
• Conduct accident, incident and near-miss investigations to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions.
• Maintain continuous oversight of all facets of work-place safety, including accident investigations, report compliance, OSHA logs, and facilities corrective action lists.
• Perform other duties as assigned  

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Biological Science, Chemical Engineering, Occupational Health or other related field of study preferred
• Certifications Preferred: ASP, CSP, 49 CFR DOT Hazardous Materials Shipper Certification

Knowledge and Skills

• Direct and intimate knowledge of applicable laws and regulations including OSHA, Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, RCRA, SPCC, National Pretreatment Program, SARA Section 311/312 (Tier 2 Reporting)
• Proficient in MS Office applications.
• Outstanding organization skills.
• The ability to effectively communicate to all hierarchy levels.  Ability to provide feedback to all levels within the organization. 
• Ability to identify hazards and unsafe work practices and or able to recognize processes subject to safety/environmental regulation. 
• Ability to train and coach employees on issues relating to EHS and to troubleshoot EHS concerns. 
• Good leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
