You will help our highly skilled and customer-focused team to grow in response to an increasing number of secured and potential future infrastructure opportunities in the local and national highways sector markets. The role will be challenging, demanding, varied, and offer fantastic opportunities for skill set and career development. We are seeking Engineers with experience of infrastructure design and delivery from concept design through construction to operations or maintenance or people with a demonstrable level of experience in designing urban spaces and streets for the movement of people and goods with a passion for a new challenge in a multi-disciplinary environment. You will have experience of UK Highway design in an urban environment. We want candidates with a passion for sustainable transport, people, communities and a relentless curiosity for collaboration and innovation.
Reporting to the Infrastructure Director who has responsibility for our operations in the Southwest, the role carries a high degree of autonomy leading teams and providing technical expertise to client bodies. You will be responsible for managing projects and multi-disciplinary design teams producing and assuring designs, controlling task budgets and the development of staff competencies and career paths (motivation and performance of other direct reports and junior staff is an integral part of the role). You will also support our Highways Practices in business development activities and seeking out new opportunities and take responsibility for developing commercial and technical responses to new opportunities. The successful candidate will have demonstrable highways experience preference for a Chartered Engineer with an appropriate civil engineering institution (ICE, CIHT, PWI etc) or show equivalent continuous professional development, be technically proficient in one or more areas of technical capability. Candidates should also be able to demonstrate some experience of leading or having a key project role in delivering multi-disciplinary transport projects, developing new work opportunities, winning work and mentoring team members.
