Senior Temporary Works Design Engineer Required

My client are delighted to be growing their Engineering Services team with the addition of an experienced Senior Design Engineer where you will be joining a dynamic, collaborative IN-HOUSE team and working on exciting projects across a variety of sectors including but not limited to civil engineering, construction, commercial, marine & rail.


You will be:

• Responsible for the preparation and review of detailed technical designs for temporary works (including calculations, drawings, risk assessments and design certificates)
• Proposing and/or developing value engineered alternative solutions (during tender or construction phases)
• Support Construction Team with Temporary Works Solutions.
• Liaising with Temporary Works Coordinators, Project Teams, Subcontractors, Technical Office Team and Suppliers
• Developing, instigating and maintaining processes, procedures and standards for technical design

Joining an international team who are collaboratively breaking new ground by transforming temporary works designs, you will be a strong decision maker with logical methodology.


You will have:

• Completed a third level structural, structural or design engineering qualification.
• A minimum of 10 years' experience in design engineering
• A minimum of 10 years' experience working in Geotech, Concrete, Steel, Construction or Temporary Works Design Engineering

Signalling & Telecoms (S&T) provide cost-effective engineering solutions for railway signalling projects throughout the UK.

As a team we manage the full project life cycle and complete all aspects of design, project engineering, installation, testing, commissioning and maintenance support, across all signalling technologies, equipment and systems.

We also provide design, supply, install and test services for operational and lineside telecommunication renewals, either as a single discipline provider, or as part of multidisciplinary project, to ensure end-to-end connectivity. We also offer these capabilities for station information and security systems.

We are currently working on a number of contracts some examples of which include the S&T Framework for NW&C, SP&C Framework in Scotland, TransPennine Route upgrade (TRue) and Train Control System Framework (TCSF) for provision of ETCS.

We have a great opportunity for a 2 Senior Test Engineers (one based in Sctoland and the other based in the South) to work on multiple projects across the UK for our busy Signalling & Telecoms department.

As an experienced Tester-in-Charge, you will be responsible ensuring the production and implementation of Test and Commissioning plans and the integrity of all control systems is verified, safe and fit for use.

About you

This position is ideal for someone who has recently attended the SWT Module 1 Training Course and has completed some Mentorship, you will be provided a structured development programme to gain Competence in Module 1 at Simple, Complex and Major.

Possession of the relevant IRSE licences, attention to detail and a flexible and enthusiastic approach are essential, as is the ability to work well both with other Test Engineers and other disciplines in the organisation.

This is to work for a well known contractor carrying out sheet pilling, king post walls involving rotary bored and DTHH rock drilling techniques. Based at the Doncaster office but expected to travel to various sites UK wide carrying out RAMS.
