- Continuous surveillance of the RMI supplier’s deliverables. Identify potential challenges arising from the preferred supplier design, risks, and opportunities for optimization, proactively addressing issues to maintain project timelines and objectives. The CEL will also be responsible to ensure the manufacturing of the RMI complies with the RD’s design.
- Collaborate with the client, NNB, in preparing the documentation package (project requirements, Bill of Materials, design specifications, and compliance standards) for the tender process. This includes defining technical specifications, evaluating supplier proposals, reply to technical queries for the various bidders and facilitating communication between internal and external stakeholders. The RMI CEL will then be in charge of supporting NNB in evaluating bidder proposals and selecting the preferred supplier based on technical merit, cost-effectiveness, and overall project alignment as well as limiting the impact on the RD existing piping design.
- Configuration management of piping design for the RD scope.
- Ensure that all design changes adhere to the RD processes and project specifications, mitigating risks associated with operational safety, cost and Schedule impact and efficiency.
- To lead a team of 2 configuration engineers to assess the impact of Design Open Points and Design Changes impacting the piping contracts (Execution Design, Procurement, manufacturing and RMI)

Who you are…

- MSc in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- Extensive experience in Piping Design in the Nuclear industry


- Excellent Interpersonal skills, conscientiousness, organisation, writing ability.
- Excellent knowledge of the sequences of a piping system's design (Basic design, Detailed design, and Execution Design) and the different disciplines involved.
- Analytical minded and oral expression skills,


Your background may include some of the following:

- Knowledge of the RCC-M code / ASME / EN standards
- Experience with design context and regulatory processes in the United Kingdom.
- French speaking advantageous

The Opportunity...

At Hinkley Point C (HPC) we are building two new nuclear reactors, the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations in the UK providing low carbon electricity for around six million homes.

EDF EPR Engineering UK (EPR-E) established in 2023, oversees the design (basic design) and the realisation (studies, procurement, erection, testing and commissioning) of nuclear islands for new projects.

EPR-E is responsible for delivering the design for a number of NI buildings, systems and equipment contracts for the Hinkley Point C EPR Project through an integrated team, support to HPC construction and commissioning activities, and preparing design replication feasibility and engineering activities for the Sizewell C Project. Therefore, a Technical Directorate is being created, responsible for the engineering disciplines and technical expertise required to deliver the different engineering projects through integrated teams in EPR-E.

As a Fire Engineer, you will play a crucial role in conducting internal studies on all buildings under our responsibility, ensuring safety functions are effectively executed in the event of a fire within the plant.

What you’ll be doing…


- Collaborating with Building Leaders, safety team, systems engineers, civil engineers, and plant layout engineers.
- Analysing 3D models to identify combustible materials in different areas.
- Conducting temperature change calculations for simulated fires using MAGIC software.
- Assessing risk of damage to systems and study functional redundancy.
- Monitoring engineering changes and recommending preventive measures.
- Dividing buildings into fire protection zones and recommend detection and firefighting methods for rapid response.
- Providing justifications for departures from BS9999.

Who you are…

Your background may include some of the following:

- Qualified Engineer to degree level or equivalent specialising in safety and/or fire protection technologies.
- Knowledge of ETCF (EPR technical code for fire).
- Experience and knowledge of UK Fire Regulations including BS9999.
- Calculations relating to fire protection and ability to work with calculation tools.
- Ability to propose fire protection and detection solutions.
- French is advantageous.
