Your new role

The Role

What you’ll be doing

You'll also produce and analyse performance indicators (KPIs), conduct audits to ensure compliance, and resolve configuration-related issues or non-conformance matters. This role is an almost exclusively mechanically based role operating on a DuPont style shift pattern (12-hour rotating shift patterns, with a week off every four weeks). You will work in a team of two, divided between mechanical and electrical specialisms, working towards a TPM mentality. You will be tasked with diagnosing causes of equipment breakdown with a focus on a "First Time Fix" mentality to ensure 24/7 availability of production equipment.

• Reduce equipment downtime.
• Ensure procedures, health and safety requirements are always followed.
• Using your initiative to carry out process improvements to improve equipment reliability.
• Detailed recording of equipment history on computer systems and complete documentation as required.
• Manage wastage to ensure it is kept to a minimum.
• Liaise with and manage Service Contractors as and when needed.

Your role

• Provide professional surveying services and project management, particularly those involving structural, dimensional and topographical surveys and design solutions, to the client's stock of dwellings
• Ensure work carried out is of the highest quality
• Plan, monitor and control all aspects of the programme, seeking best practice, ideas and innovation and ensuring they are applied to the project.
• Achieve the project's objectives within the defined schedules, costs and performance parameters.

You will need

• Degree in Structural engineering, diploma or HNC equivalent or equivalent professional qualification in a construction field and corporate membership of the institution of structural Engineers or with substantial post qualification experience and able to demonstrate significant relevant knowledge of complex structures
• Knowledge and understanding of the principles of project management and demonstrable project management skills.
• Practical experience in a role as "technical expert" in a building, surveying/ structural surveying or similar construction related environment providing design solutions.
• Thorough knowledge and understanding of Health & Safety issues
• Method Experience of leading and supporting staff in a service delivery environment, project management qualification.
• Expert knowledge of the different types of construction of residential buildings, including multi-storey blocks, their potential defects and the investigation and implementation of solutions
• Demonstrable ability to co-ordinate professional staff, take ownership and be accountable for all aspects of a service/project/programme from end-to-end
• Demonstrate evidence of applying innovative and analytical approaches to solving complex and challenging problems
• Ability to liaise and cooperate with other teams and contractors to ensure Service outcomes are achieved.
• Demonstrate ability to supervise projects or programmes to achieve outcomes including meeting financial and budgetary targets, developing service, ensuring high quality workmanship
• Ability to provide written reports, including embedded photographs and to create and make presentation material using IT tools and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications or equivalent including the following: Outlook, Word, Excel, Internet Explorer, and have a willingness to learn new applications and technology as appropriate.

The duties of the service engineer or mechanical service engineer or field service fitter, will be servicing, repairing, delivering and installation of mechanical equipment at various locations.

The service engineer role will involve

• Mechanical repair, servicing, fitting and installation duties
• This is normally to customer sites but can also be in the workshop
• Changing bearings, rollers, motors at site locations and facilities
• The ability to read basic engineering drawings is preferred
• Likely to be around 50 hours most weeks (paid ovetrime)
• knowledge of conveyors or similar types of production machinery or mechanical material handling equipment would be of particular interest but not essential
• Ability to liaise in person with customers providing a professional, responsible point of contact
• Working and travelling individually or sometimes in a team of two
• Full driving licence required but transit van remains at depot
• Ability to attend the depot daily to pick van up and start work early when travelling to different locations i.e. 6am starts with overnight stays (fully expensed and overnight night allowance) 3 or 4 times a month on average

The service engineer skills and requirements

·Would suit someone with previous experience of working with and or servicing mechanical machinery or equipment.
·Any knowledge of conveyors or similar types of production machinery or mechanical material handling equipment would be of interest.
·Any engineering qualifications are of interest but not essential if a suitable work history can be demonstrated.
·The successful candidate will have previously worked within a Service Engineering or production environment and will have mechanical fitting and repair/maintenance or transferable skills.
·A current and full Driving licence is essential
