• Serve as First Assistant Engineer Diesel on a self-propelled, sea-going, diesel powered, hopper dredge engaged in continuous 24 hours per day/7 days per week dredging activities.
• Supervises and/or performs routine repairs to operating machinery during assigned watch.
• Reviews work of junior engineers through visual inspection of engine room equipment ensuring proper operation and servicing of all equipment.
• Required to live aboard the Dredge WHEELER during tour of duty, which will be 14 days on duty/14 days off duty. Normal shift is 12 hour days with shift work and 12-hour days required when needed to stand watch.
• Due to the working schedule on the WHEELER, it is not a requirement to live locally, but it would be advantageous to the employee to avoid travel expenses as the Corps of Engineers does not pay transportation to and from the vessel.

• Oversees the engineering, technical and administrative matters for civil construction projects in terms of computational methods and software for quantity computations.
• Attends design and scheduling conferences and represents Construction Division at higher headquarters technical conferences and meetings relative to assigned projects.
• Plans, coordinates, and supervises the activities of subordinates engaged in conducting pre-construction review of District projects for constructability, biddability, operability, environmental, and sustainability.
• Establishes program goals and objectives, general operating policies and procedures, and work standards and requirements.
• Monitors and assesses Section activities, and performs and/or oversees the performance of various administrative tasks such as budgeting and payroll, reports and correspondence, personnel management, etc.
• Serves as an expert technical consultant to field offices and other District elements on problems associated with constructability aspects of planned and on-going civil works construction projects.

Role Summary

Application Engineer, within the Aftermarket Commercial Operations team located in Baton Rouge, LA assigned to support Aftermarket customers in the South Region and to serve as a backup for the greater North American region. The product focus is on Pumps, Seals, & Seal Support Systems.

The Applications Engineer’s primary functions are: to review customer requests for quotes, generate technical proposals, review customer purchase orders and job specifications, generate engineering requirements for drawing and Bill of Material creation, generate manufacturing requirements via the generation of sales order drafts, facilitate the inspection and/or product failure analysis of returned products and to provide technical support to customers directly or through the responsible sales channel.

Responsabilities:

• Provide quotations for Seals and Systems at market level pricing in response to RFQs in the requested customer time frame.
• Interpret specifications and data sheets, including special warranty, delivery and payment terms requested by our customer.
• Perform seal failure analysis including the generation of technical findings reports with recommendations.
• Interact effectively with customers without supervision.
• Demonstrates acquired specialization in multiple products.
• For all products, identifies the correct Flowserve solution to fulfill customer requirements.
• Proactively seeks out maximizing financial drivers such as tracking costs, expenses, receivables, and inventory to improve the financial performance of the Corporation.
• Drive a consistent offering to our customers preventing regionalization of our product offerings.
• Engage with all levels of management and sales to participate in pricing strategies.
• Confirm the Sales Approval Process is followed for all firm bids and cost estimates are prepared and qualified by BU.
• Drive and facilitate selective bidding as required based on current workloads and user locations.
• Provide the first level of troubleshooting.

Requirements:

• Bachelor of Science Engineering degree or equivalent with 5 years related experience with pumps, seals, or seal support systems.  
• Excellent verbal and written communication
• Mechanical aptitude, ability to utilize measuring equipment (i.e. dial calipers, micrometers, etc.), ability to utilize basic tools for inspection
• Ability to organize and prioritize responsibilities in a self-directed environment.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and ability to adapt to new programs/software.
• Able to identify problems and utilize advanced problem-solving and troubleshooting skills to reach an appropriate solution.
• Basic project management tools and methods
• Strong work ethic with positive attitude

Preferred Experience / Skills:

• Experience as an Applications Engineer or similar role such as, inside Sales Representative, Engineer.  
• Good communication skills
• Strong technician acumen and analytical thinking.
• SAP knowledge Experience in dealing with common MS Office applications.

The Fleet Engineering Specialist’s overall purpose is to be the primary source of knowledge of their assigned aircraft model(s).

They are responsible for monitoring and improving the maintenance and inspection programs to ensure Company aircraft are maintained safely.

Responsibilities:

• Review technical documentation issued by aircraft manufacturers, vendors and airworthiness authorities and issue instructions to the maintenance organization as required.
• Vetting all relevant Technical Information issued against applicable aircraft Types in a timely manner and to advise on temporary amendments and the distribution to Technical Publications.
• Act as a focal point and contact for all technical queries/requirements, including repairs, between the Company and the relevant Aircraft/Engine/Equipment manufacturers and where necessary the Company’s Clients. Also, attending any meetings with manufacturers and Airworthiness Authorities, as required.
• Review flight safety and airworthiness information and issue Instructions as required. Monitor results and inform maintenance management.
• Assess Data Change Requests and make recommendations for amendment as appropriate.
• Liaise with the Airworthiness Management Department to undertake follow up investigations/actions resulting from Safety Reporting, as applicable.
• Monitor the embodiment of Airworthiness Directives, mandatory Service Bulletins, Repairs and Company Modifications, liaising with the Supply Chain when necessary, advising Technical Records for recording purposes and providing reports to maintenance Management.
• Review of Reliability Reports, taking necessary action for improvement as required.
• Assist/advise the Maintenance Program and Reliability Analyst on the production and amendment of Maintenance Programs
• Support the Group Flight Safety Officer in the investigation/follow up to any accident or serious incident relevant to their aircraft type.
• Review Design Requests for modifications and endorse/comment as required.
• The candidate will be required to travel to support regional bases periodically

Qualifications:

• Licensed AMT - 10 plus years of Aviation maintenance or QC experience may be considered in lieu of license.
• Experienced Licensed AMT with minimum 5 years’ experience (Airbus preferred).
• Avionics experience advantageous.
