My client is a leading engineering and manufacturing business located in the Reading area the business is looking to hire a Senior IT Support Engineer to come in and manage everything to do with the IT Support for the company working closely with the engineers to provide support on any IT bugs.
Key Responsibilities – IT Support Engineer
• Coordinate the installation of all operational computer and technology onto the test and/or production networks. Ensure that any required services function properly between the test and production networks.
• Provide critical support on schedules for IT assets and infrastructure
• Maintain an inventory of all operational computer and technology used in Engineering, Manufacturing, Testing, Quality, Clean Rooms, and Inspection areas.
• Develop and collaborate Operations and Test Equipment resources to maintain a lifecycle plan, from initial build through end of need, including hardware and software maintenance for all specialized computer and technology used in Engineering, Manufacturing, Testing, Quality, Clean Rooms, and Inspection areas.
• Develop and collaborate with Operations and Test Equipment resources to maintain a business continuity plan for all specialized computer and technology used in Engineering, Manufacturing, Testing, Quality, Clean Rooms, and Inspection areas.
• Serve as the site point of contact and project coordinator for Network/System upgrades affecting specialized computer and technology used in Engineering, Manufacturing, Testing, Quality, Clean Rooms, and Inspection areas.
• Provide budget input to management for the proper maintenance and/or upgrade of specialized computer and technology used in Engineering, Manufacturing, Testing, Quality, Clean Rooms, and Inspection areas.
• Act as a liaison with Corporate IT technical teams to resolve technical IT issues affecting SDG business operations.
• Collaborate with SDG Operational staff to understand Operational IT equipment needs.
• Support upgrades and improvements necessary to keep the Operational IT equipment up to date.
• Identify areas for improvement and work with the team, the value stream work-centers, and other functions to realize these improvements.
Qualifications & Requirements – IT Support Engineer
• A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred, or a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience in Desktop Computer Support.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in Desktop Computer Support.
• Possess advanced technical knowledge of computer software, operating systems, hardware, and networking.
• Demonstrated technical problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
• Ability and eagerness to learn and maintain skills with emerging technologies related to IT standards and computer/networking hardware.
• Capable of working both independently and as part of a team.
• Behavioural Competencies: Innovation, adaptability, decision-making, communication, customer focus, building strategic working relationships, initiating action, quality orientation, managing work.
• Microsoft MCP, MCSA, MCSE certification, or equivalent experience preferred.
• Familiarity with Operational Technology used in Manufacturing, LabView, and Engineering Test Systems is preferred.
