Responsibilities:

• Primary function is to manage activities associated with software changes for a variety of medical device systems.

• Manages/coordinates updates performed by development team, and incorporates updates to software, as needed.

• Interact with outside vendors, write/modify/convey requirements, and be able to identify and hold outside vendors accountable for their deliverables.

• On a regular basis, monitor project activities and report status, including feedback on blockers, potential changes to project scope and activities, and recommended solutions as appropriate.

Experience

• BS in Computer Science or other related discipline with 3 years’ experience; or 7 years of relevant experience

• Must have experience leading software development change activities or proven leadership abilities.

• Must understand software design control and be familiar with product-level design control.

• Prefer C++ and C# development experience, and familiarity with object-oriented software design.

• Ability to work cross-functionally with a variety of stakeholders.

• Ability to work independently, proactively identify issues, recommend, and implement solutions, and deliver quality results on schedule while managing multiple tasks and internal customers. Understanding of Window operating environments (Win10, Win7, etc.).

• Experience with one or more software configuration management systems and related tools, such as: Confluence, Jenkins, AWS DevOps, Jira, Git, GitHub, TFS Knowledge of networking and cybersecurity concepts are a plus.

• Experience with Microsoft Visual Studio, ADO, or other integrated development environment (IDE) tool.

• Familiar with FDA/ISO regulations for software development, including IEC 62304 Solid understanding of Software Development Lifecycle Management (SDLC) – (Agile/Scrum, iterative).

• Excellent interpersonal & Communication skills to build positive departmental and inter-departmental relationships in a virtual, remote, and asynchronous environment.

What You’ll Bring

• Extensive experience in executing projects for industrial facilities with a focus on the highest level of quality, cost effectiveness, and safety 
• The ability to train and lead electrical engineers and designers

Thales is looking for a Systems Engineer whose main responsibilities include design, integration, and management of Thales’ ground-based navigational aids (NAVAIDs) for both Civil and Military domains with a primary focus on Thales’ Tactical Air Navigation (TACAN) systems over all product life cycles. Thales’ Navigation And non-radar Surveillance (NAS) business segment, part of the Thales Land and Air Systems Global Business Unit, architects solutions used by over two-thirds of all planes worldwide to take off and land safely. In this position, you will act as the lead technical interface with the Customer in regards to the solution architecture, performance, deployment and issues raised during the project phase.  In this role, the systems engineer holds ownership of the technical needs to the project(s) they support. The systems engineer will have knowledge in electrical hardware design (preferably within the domain of Radio Frequency [RF] signal electronics and antennas). As part of Integration Verification Validation & Qualification (IVVQ), the Systems Engineer will develop, author, and plan test cases, plans, and procedures.  Additionally, the Systems Engineer would be involved in the actual system testing. This Systems Engineer will also produce and maintain NAVAID product System Specifications, when applicable.  Additionally, they will be responsible for analyzing the System/Subsystem Specification (SSS) requirements to determine required modifications to the hardware and software. The Systems Engineer analyzes new situations, formulates new ideas; and generates requirements with sufficient detail to start a new design and solve complex problems.  The Systems Engineer applies knowledge of hardware, software and network technologies to generate highly innovative, cost effective, system-level design solutions. The Systems Engineer executes and enhances System Engineering efforts and processes with regard to development and sustaining projects. In addition, other activities include, supporting the allocation of system requirements to the subsystems, budgeting performance requirements to subsystems, and estimating the effort required to implement those modifications.  The Systems Engineer will be responsible to support effort estimation and Statement Of Work (SOW) development with further responsibility to serve as the subcontract technical manager for sub-tier supplier co-development programs as they arise. While performing these tasks they are responsible for meeting cost, delivery and performance targets.  The Systems Engineer will help to define the design details including CONcept of OPerations (CONOPs), Requirements, System Interface Control Documents (ICDs), and design review details; clearly highlighting the new developments (scope, key technical aspects and development challenges with quantified risks) from the existing components of the Thales NAVAID integrated software and hardware products. • Promote and allow good and harmonized deployment of process, tools and means (IT/IS) in accordance with the engineering performance plan. Minimum Qualifications

You will join our Control System Integration Practice and partner with seasoned leaders, technical specialists, and subject matter experts to deliver the highest quality solutions to our clients with consistency and accuracy.

What You’ll Do

You'll work individually and in teams to support capital projects and implement solutions for our clients. Together, you will help our clients make critical changes to improve their performance and realize their most important goals.

• Develop automation solutions and participate in various phases of automation projects including creating design specifications, software configuration and testing, and the commissioning and start-up of a variety of high speed and other automated manufacturing processes
• Design automation control systems and create project documentation and drawings to meet client requirements
• Diagnose automation problems
• Interface with teams, clients and vendors
• Configure software and hardware packages according to client design specifications
• Program PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Rockwell) and HMI/SCADAs (FactoryTalk, Cimplicity, Wonderware, Ignition)
• Communicate plan progress to project stakeholders
• Manage engineering projects
• Manage project deliverables to agreed schedule and scope
• Manage site construction and installation
• Manage site start-up support of integrated control systems
• Validate and commission facility systems following established execution protocols, and ensure the successful turnover of the system to the customer

What You’ll Bring

• A track record of proficiency in control systems, troubleshooting, and high intensity environments
• A minimum of three years of direct experience as a controls engineer working on automated processes/system integration in a food, beverage, consumer health product, or other industrial manufacturing environment
• Experience in creating and designing automation controls systems (PLC, SCADA)
• A solid understanding of industrial control panel design and fabrication (UL508A)
• A solid understanding of instrumentation and controls (I&C)
• A solid understanding of engineering documentation (P&IDs, process flow diagram, standard operating procedures)
• Experience with field instrumentation, control system installation, and configuration
• Familiarity with machine safety applications, electrical power distribution, and control panel design
• Proficiency in written and verbal technical communication, including generating reports and conducting group presentations
• A willingness to travel for project requirements including installation and start-up activities, client and company sponsored meetings, trainings, industry related seminars, forums, and conventions
• A bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, chemical engineering or similar technical field (preferred)

Project Engineer

Position Summary

Thales is looking for a Project Engineer be responsible for all technical activities and customer interfaces during the offer and execution phases of a project. Thales Navigation And non-radar Surveillance (NAS) business segment, part of the Thales Land and Air Systems Global Business Unit, architects solutions used by over two-thirds of all planes worldwide to take off and land safely. Our Ground Navigation portfolio offers a complete range of products, which includes the latest generation of ground-based navigational aids (NAVAIDs) (e.g. ILS, DME, TACAN, VOR) and non-radar surveillance (e.g. ADS-B). With more than 10,000 NAVAIDs and non-radar surveillance installed worldwide in 180 countries, we are world leaders in the NAVAIDs market.

In this position, you will act as lead technical interface with the internal or external customer in regards to technical coordination, the solution architecture, performance, and issues raised during the project phase. The Project Engineer will report directly to the local Engineering Manager of the Thales NAS business segment.

Key Areas of Responsibility

• The project engineer is responsible for analyzing the technical parts of tenders (e.g. compliance matrix) with assistance from the engineering team and other experts.
• They define the optimal solution configuration by considering approved configurations and performing analysis and/or simulations with customer installation sites inputs.
• They are responsible to provide, customer and project documentation and associated configuration files according to customer site and contract requirements.
• In co-operation with the procurement department, they deliver technical specifications and contributes to the statement of work to suppliers in order to obtain commitments on cost, schedule, and delivery contents.
• They solve technical on-site issues in co-operation with the field engineering team, project manager, customer service and any other resources (Quality, local KIP, etc.). Based on existing product tests and procedures, they prepare and execute acceptance tests with the customer (e.g. Factory Acceptance Test and Site Acceptance Tests) as needed.
• In support of the services department, they contribute to training sessions to end users and customer, to solving technical issues within warranty and service contracts and to restoring systems under service contracts within the contractual reaction times by solving issues.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Systems, Electrical or Software Engineering, or another technical field with a minimum of 5+ years of relevant work experience, or Master’s degree in Systems, Electrical or Software Engineering, or another technical field with a minimum of 4+ years of relevant work experience.

• Proven experience in working collaboratively across multiple product development and specialist domain teams (Obeya, Problem solving…).
• Proven ability to work in a multinational and multicultural team with varied degrees of experience.
• Good knowledge of standard Office tools (e.g. MS Office) and CAD (e.g. AutoCAD) and/or MS Visio and experience with network technologies, and remote-control systems.
• The candidate should have communication and negotiation skills to be able to ensure the equipment’s acceptance and to support Thales product policy by minimizing project customization.

Job Description

• Implements/enhances state-of-the-art quality and reliability systems/programs to support R&D objectives relating to instruments (excluding software).

• Reviews/critiques product designs, proposed processes, and testing regimens ensuring a rigorous focus on reliability, quality, and compliance throughout NPI.

• Leads NPI teams in identifying and executing key pre-verification characterization testing and other activities necessary for continuous product improvement and robustness enhancement.

• Provides technical expertise in challenging design for reliability and serviceability of products in development.  

• Capable of planning, performing, and documenting hands-on testing to evaluate DfR objectives (example: HALT testing, automated life tests, accelerated aging, vibration/shock, drop/abuse, PCBA stress screening, and environmental testing).

• Ensures timely completion of testing with continuous feedback to development team for ongoing design enhancements.

• Uses analytical skills in statistical analysis, tolerancing/simulation, measurement science, stress testing, reliability assessment, simulation, and design critique as appropriate to support NPI DfR objectives.

• Works with technical transfer functions to ensure timely corrective actions of design, assembly, supplier, or other production issues encountered during NPI.

• Works with project teams to produce DHF reports, verifications and validations are compliant, documented, and grounded in solid science.

Skills

• Four yrs. in R&D with primary focus on preproduction reliability and quality engineering activities.

• Proven experience in the application of reliability engineering, including:

• Some familiarity required in applying basic statistical methods.

• Must be familiar with GMP/QSR regulations.

• Some experience required in fixturing, lab testing methods and/or equipment validation.

• Proven strong learning agility required.

• 1-2 years of experience in executing process/product validation, transfer of products from R&D into manufacturing, and working on multidisciplinary teams that include all functions in the manufacturing environment.

• Proven knowledge in mechanical, electrical, or optical design principles. This person must be able to critique designs for their manufacturability and identify reliability concerns.

• Proven project management experience in a cross-functional environment (e.g. multi-site, technical development, other functions).

• MS and ASQ Certifications in Quality Engineering and Reliability Engineering strongly preferred.

• Proficient in preparing detailed technical reports and interim presentations of results.

• Assist with or conduct the daily operations and maintenance of the mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems and general maintenance requirements for the buildings
• Supervise maintenance staff when applicable and assign, and monitor maintenance activities and projects
• Perform preventive maintenance duties, including changing filters, lubricating motors, replacing lamps, ballasts and fixtures, Inspecting and adjusting belts, replacing motor bearings, aligning shafts, and other inspections and maintenance recommended by equipment manufacturers
• Recommend improvements to the preventive maintenance program on an ongoing basis
• Develop and maintain effective building-specific maintenance procedures
