Day Rate: £300 - £350 PAYE / £400 - £470 Umbrella
Role Overview:
Join the SZC Project Team, a dynamic and inclusive organisation dedicated to stakeholder engagement, securing development consent, and priming the project for construction. As part of the Civil Works Programme, the Engineering & Technical function plays a pivotal role in defining design, engineering, and technical requirements, and leading the delivery of all CWP design aspects. We are seeking a motivated Project Engineer to contribute to our mission.

Key Responsibilities:
When supporting a Design Manager:
- Assist in defining or validating SZC Technical Requirements and Specifications.
- Manage technical Open Points and Design Changes, navigating through governance processes.
- Ensure Design Technical Assurance for end-to-end design compliance.
- Support risk management and compliance with SZC Engineering and Design processes.
- Coordinate technical interfaces with other parties and stakeholders.
- Collaborate on design delivery according to contract schedules and Integrated Work Schedule (IWS).
When supporting the Engineering & Technical Project Manager:
- Assist in technical input for various project aspects, including budget management and schedule updates.
- Coordinate with design supply chain contracts and other relevant programs.
- Provide technical assistance to procurement and commercial teams.
- Support risk management and reporting in accordance with SZC Project requirements.
Qualifications & Experience:
Essential:
- Knowledge of design activities in heavy civil engineering structures or external works.
- Experience in providing technical assistance within delivery teams.
- Ability to communicate effectively across various levels and stakeholders.
Desirable:
- Experience in the nuclear sector, particularly in safety-related structures.
- Honours Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or equivalent.
- Experience or management of design in Civil Engineering projects.
- Chartered Engineer (MICE or MIStructE) or working towards chartership.
