Senior Manager of Software Development
Manager of Software Development cultivates and leads engineering teams that develop, test, deploy, and maintain Blackbaud’s EVERFI Internal tooling infrastructure. Directly and through Managers on this team, this role will work to establish and adhere to engineering best practices, identify critical gaps in development processes, create and own strategic projects, and empower teams. They will lead by example and be an agent of innovation while inspiring those around them. They will develop employees through goal setting and coaching best practices and processes.
What you’ll be doing:
- Work in an agile development environment leading engineering tech leads, and responsible for multiple teams of software engineers focused on internal tooling activities.
- Recruit and cultivate highly engaged teams by attracting high performing team members, coaching them on their career growth, and ensuring they are connected to the outcomes and purpose of their work.
- Manage performance of team members through goal setting and measurement, coaching, recognition, and feedback through regular one-on-one's and check-ins
- Mentor managers to continually improve leadership across the team
- Foster a culture of quality engineering that promotes collective quality ownership. Emphasize the importance of sound software design, effective testing methodologies, and proactive bug mitigation strategies to ensure high-quality engineering.
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement within the QE function. Identify areas for improvement, implement process enhancements, and measure their impact on overall product quality.
- Responsible for managing the budget for quality engineering activities, ensuring efficient resource allocation, and cost-effective practices.
- Provide the vision for our engineering technology platform and drive the development of roadmap to help us quickly scale and release faster with confidence.
- Create as a service operation that provides top-notch quality engineering for all major Blackbaud applications. This will ensure that the automation process is highly efficient and effective.
- Work together with all departments within Blackbaud to enhance quality and establish partnerships.
- Collaborate with Product and Development teams in a shift-left mindset to ensure that requirements and outcomes are understood and properly translated into automated testing coverage that is appropriately prioritized, scoped, and sequenced.
- Proactively provide transparent communication on progress via timelines and risk assessments.
- Lead continuous improvement of software dev through collaboration with peers and architects.
What we’ll want you to have:
- 10+ years of experience in the software development space
- 7+ years experience managing quality engineering development teams in an agile environment
- Experience working with a complex product portfolio across multiple teams
- Demonstrative experience in software engineering best practices such as design patterns, decoupled architectures, test-driven development, and CI\CD pipelines
- History of observing and considerately adopting contemporary software development technologies
- Strong interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to achieve results through influence
What we’ll prefer you to have:
- Experience developing cloud solutions (Amazon AWS) and an understanding of SaaS software
- Proven experience in developing and implementing quality engineering strategies that align with the overall business goals and drive organizational success.
- An awareness of emerging technologies, tools, and trends in quality engineering and a track record of successfully implementing innovative solutions.
- Experience managing remote teams and team members both onshore and offshore

The starting base pay is $150,400.00 to $204,100.00. Blackbaud may pay more or less based on employee qualifications, market value, Company finances, and other operational considerations.
