Senior Process engineer- CAPEX/capital projects

Key responsibilities:

· Engineering and management of Capital Projects through front end design, procurement, installation and commissioning of site infrastructure and process equipment to agreed specifications, ensuring that key stakeholders are consulted at each stage of the project lifecycle.

· Undertake and manage key aspects of project work such as: managing budget, schedule, scope and risk; participate and undertake design reviews; creation of documentation and management of data; etc.

· Collaboration with Operations, Process, Technical and Safety specialists the completion of User Requirement Specifications (URS), CAPEX requests, Hazard Study Documentation and Risk Assessments as required.

· Consider design for manufacture, process flow (factory layout) and sustainability principles when providing key inputs for the successful purchase of new process and service equipment.

· Leveraging outside partners and suppliers for solution development and design including the sourcing, recommendation, and selection of equipment suppliers (vendor bid analysis).

· Manage and control the safe installation of equipment on site including the supervision and safe management of on-site contractors.

· Support trouble-shooting during installation and start-up, ensuring a smooth hand over to operations

Experience and skills required-

· Degree level qualification or equivalent in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical or Manufacturing Engineering.

· Proven experience of the delivery of Capital Projects.

· Familiar with Hazard Studies and Risk Assessments.

· Awareness of working with and specifying site utilities is desired but not essential.

· Competence with CAD and Microsoft Project is desired but not essential.

· Experience with automation of fabrication and converting equipment is desired but not essential.

The Role

As a Senior Flight Test Instrumentation Engineer (FTI), you'll have a role that is out of the ordinary, responsible for delivering FTI solutions to the highest standards for technical output in the FTI function within the Aviation Engineering Centre at Boscombe Down.

They will work in support of the Solution and Capability Lead Engineer within the FTI field of Engineering to ensure that the Aviation Engineering Centre is able to specify, design, produce and integrate high quality FTI solutions for crewed, un-crewed and ship platforms.

They will be a recognised expert within their Area of Responsibility (AoR) and will drive best practice and development in FTI techniques and methods employing proven and emerging novel technology as appropriate to customer requirement

Day to day you will,

• Be a technical contributor and go to leader within a multi-disciplinary team to deliver bespoke FTI - biased projects
• Establish and maintain professional relationships with the Project Management Organisation (PMO) functions including Project Management and Project Engineering to ensure safe delivery of project output in accordance with quality, cost and time targets
• To contribute to the development of robust Solution Technical Delivery Plans and to manage change against these plans and support uplift and sustainment through Continuing Improvement, the quality of execution and output from the FTI field of delivery
• To support the maintainance of Engineering relationships with internal and third party Aviation Design, Production and Integration partners, focusing on delivery excellence within their AoR
• To establish and maintain Engineering relationships with neighbouring Technical Communities including those engaged in Major Aircraft Modifications, Avionics and Communications Modifications and Uncrewed Air System Modifications within the AEC business streams
• Contribute to a Continuous Improvement Plan for their AoR which will form the basis of regular review with AEC Senior Stakeholders and contribute to AECs strategic future goals

This role is full time, 37-hour per weeks, with a flexible hybrid working arrangement.

Essential experience of the Senior Flight Test Instrumentation Engineer

• Recognised as a time served FTI Engineer or Electronics / Electrical Engineer with underpinning knowledge in aircraft safety, maintenance and operational considerations
• General working knowledge of the range of commercial FTI system offerings and thier application, integration, deployment and data outputs
• Demonstrable knowledge and experience of the application of FTI systems to aircraft primary systems and components
• Professional and assertive communicator and able to conduct formal reviews of technical detail in the field of FTI and aircraft integration and test phases
• Demonstrable experience of FTI through personal delivery in the field, and possible experience in Military and Civil Aviation, specifically the lifecycle of Aircraft Modifications
• Experience of Verification, Validation and Test phases of an aircraft modification project and the formal acceptance expectations of the customer

Qualifications for the Senior Flight Test Instrumentation Engineer

• HNC / HND / Degree in an appropriate Engineering subject matter coupled with commensurate experience in the field of FTI
• Extensive experience of the application and through life support requirements of FTI systems in both civil and military aviation environments and ship trials scenarios

As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer, you'll bring a wealth of skills and experience to ensure the delivery, support, and maintenance of IT infrastructure and operational software that align with Selwood's corporate goals and daily operational needs.
