My well established client, based in Bedford, is looking to recruit an Engineering Workshop Assistant to work within their experienced engineering team. This role is available due to a promotion.

This is a fabulous opportunity for either a candidate with relevant experience or someone who is looking for the opportunity to work within the engineering industry and benefit from in house training.

If you are looking for your first opportunity to work within the engineering industry you must be someone that wants to be trained on all manual skilled tasks and is happy to stay on the shop floor for the medium term and learn to a point that you are able to work independently.

Role:

Cutting and assembling aluminium fabricated frames
Assisting with installation of robotic systems
Operating workshop machines including saw and pillar drill
Occasional travel to customer sites in the UK
Very occasional work at weekends required
Painting completed fabrications

About you:

Experience within an engineering or mechanical setting is an advantage although not essential as full in house training will be offered to the right person.

A willingness to learn & punctuality is essential
A full UK driving licence is required
You must be willing to travel to customer sites in the UK on occasion (expenses will be paid)
A counterbalance forklift licence an advantage although not essential as my client can offer training
Be happy to work a 40 hour week and work overtime as and when required.
Live within a 15 mile radius of Bedford

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated Junior EBME Biomedical Engineering Technician to join our EBME Department at Bedford Hospital NHS Trust

You will play a key supporting role in the care and maintenance of a broad range of medical equipment throughout Bedford Hospital including across the community sites and sometimes Luton Hospital.

We are a busy department that provides a comprehensive service, carrying out the routine calibration, maintenance, repair and management of the Trust's medical equipment. The successful candidate will be required to work on various medical devices ranging from flow meters, suction units, weighing scales to Infusion pumps, Cardiac Monitors etc.

This is a full time position, working 37.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday 9:00am – 5:00pm).

You will be educated to ONC level in Medical Electronics/Engineering with knowledge and UK experience of working on medical equipment in an acute hospital. We will consider individuals who can demonstrate they have transferable skills and experience in general electrical/electronic engineering. The work requires being able to work on your own initiative and as part of a team.

We are seeking an Junior Physical Engineer in our Framingham, MA office who will work as a member of a dynamic team within our Power Delivery division: an established group of electric utility engineering consultants that solve challenging substation engineering problems for our utility clients Nation-wide. The Junior Physical Engineer will work under the direct supervision of an experienced licensed professional engineer and is expected to develop skills in the field of substation engineering and the ability to work with greater independence. This is a hybrid position working 3 days in the office and 2 days remotely each week.

Responsibilities:

In this role the qualified individual will be expected to:

• Assist project teams with Physical Electrical, Protection and Control, SCADA Systems, Station Communications and Station Automation design on utility substation engineering projects.
• Perform basic engineering calculations to support engineering design.
• Follow the established Quality Control Plan while completing assignments.
• Assist with the preparation of project deliverables including but not limited to engineered drawings, technical reports, project-related correspondence and miscellaneous project documentation.
• Collaborate with other substation engineering disciplines as required.
• Assist the team with the development of processes and procedures to improve project execution efficiency.
• Maintain accurate records and files and a high level of organization. 
• Take opportunities to improve technical knowledge and understanding of the work.

Qualifications:

• B.S. or M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university
• 0 – 2 years of prior relevant experience in utility substation engineering with a B.S. degree
• 0 – 1 years of prior relevant experience in utility substation engineering with a M.S. degree

• Basic understanding of the utility grid (power generation, transmission and distribution) system
• Solid understanding of the basic principles of electric power
• Keen focus of quality and an appreciation for high quality deliverables
