Serco are currently recruiting for a Trainee Technician Engineer to join our RTS team in Derby. The key purpose of the role is to work on our railway industry projects, whilst acquiring the necessary knowledge, skills and qualifications to grow with our business.
Dependent upon your previous experience and qualifications, training will be provided to bring you up to a minimum of HNC level in terms of academic achievement, with commensurate practical trade skills equipping them for the role of Technician Engineer at the end of their training.
Key Accountabilities
- Assist in the design, build, evaluation, calibration and documentation of electronic systems used for testing in the railway environment,
- Assist in the installation and operation of these systems on railway vehicles and infrastructure,
- Assist in the processing of recorded data and production of test reports for customers,
- Attending any training courses deemed necessary by the Principal Engineer.
What you need to do the job?
- Numerate, accurate, with a good level of literacy (minimum GCSE grade 4 in English and Mathematics).
- A keen interest in Electrical and Electronic Engineering.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a team or autonomously, as required.
- Excellent timekeeping and organisational skills.
- Willingness to work non-office hours and in remote locations on occasions.
