We are seeking an experienced and proactive Senior IT Engineer to join our IT team, reporting directly to the IT Manager. As a lead engineer, you will be responsible for providing 2nd/3rd line support at Mulberry School for Girls and Mulberry University Technical College. You will be a key member of the team, who will also support and maintain multiple Trust-Wide systems. Your responsibilities include assisting the IT Manager in supporting the network infrastructure, troubleshooting complex issues, overseeing network maintenance, and contributing to the design and implementation of network projects.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in network administration, strong problem-solving abilities, and effective team management skills. You should possess the abilityof communicating professionally and effectively with staff and stakeholders, coupled with a passion for improving standards.

The ideal candidate will also hold a degree or equivalent IT/computing qualification and have aminimum of 2 years experience in providing 2nd and 3rd line support in an educational setting. Youwill possess significant diagnostic and troubleshooting skills, extensive knowledge of IT software, hardware, and operating systems, particularly Microsoft Server 2022, Azure, and 365. Experience with Hyper-V, VMware ESXi, Veeam and deployment systems like SCCM and Microsoft Intune is essential.

Richmond upon Thames College is part of the Harrow, Richmond and Uxbridge College Group (HRUC) and is one of London’s most successful Further Education Colleges providing education and training to 16-19 year old’s and adults from across Richmond, London and Surrey, for over 80 years. In this role you will provide support to all users of the College’s IT systems including Windows 10 desktops and laptops, Macs, VOIP telephony, managed printing services and AV. You will configure, install and support all College IT hardware systems and assist in the day-to-day maintenance. The Desktop Support Engineer is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and servicing of computer-related products, including desktop and laptop computers, printers, network devices, and standard software. This role operates primarily at customer sites, Infrastructure Managed Services (IMS) environments, or depot locations. The engineer may receive directives from Help Desk, Service Desk, or scripts and employs standard methods, techniques, and tools to complete tasks. Assignments range from basic troubleshooting and repair to more complex device maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:

Handle service calls in a directed workforce environment, addressing a wide range of equipment.
Perform routine service calls and basic installations.
Provide hardware break-fix, troubleshooting, and hardware component replacement.
Execute installs, moves, adds, and changes in client environments.
Offer basic desk-side support for personal computers and associated software.
Provide support for printers and low-end servers if necessary.
Address basic, non-complex products, and problems.
Maintain professionalism in actions, demeanor, and appearance.
Ensure customer satisfaction throughout the service delivery process.

Key Qualifications Required:

CompTIA A+ certification or equivalent.
OEM certifications (e.g., Dell, Compaq, HP) as needed.
General knowledge of desktop hardware and software, including Microsoft applications.
Basic troubleshooting and repair skills.
Ability to test PCs, servers, and associated peripherals.
Capability to resolve basic/non-complex problems as required.
Basic mechanical skills and understanding of electrostatic discharge (ESD) procedures.
Electronics training equivalent to at least 2 years of technical institutes, polytechnic, or military technical school.
