Job Overview:
As Product Engineer you will join the AD&M's (Aerospace, Defense and Marine) Ruggedized Fiber Optics (RFO) group, focusing primarily on sustaining development efforts. RFO stands as a leading innovator in optical and optoelectronic products catering to diverse sectors such as telecom/datacom, oil and gas, industrial, military, and broadcast markets. As part of the AD&M team, you'll collaborate with passionate professionals dedicated to propelling business growth while upholding integrity, accountability, and a culture of continuous improvement.
Reporting directly to the RFO Engineering Manager in the US, this hybrid role requires on-site presence at our Hastings plant. Here, you'll serve as a vital link between engineering and manufacturing, spearheading initiatives to drive efficiency, quality, and innovation.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Act as a liaison between Engineering and Manufacturing at the Hastings plant location.
- Generate Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) to facilitate product enhancements.
- Support and oversee testing activities in the lab, including DVT/Qual cable assembly design, component modeling, and print creation.
- Participate in DFMEA/PFMEA processes to identify and mitigate potential risks.
- Assist in preparing and delivering design reviews, ensuring alignment with project objectives.
- Coordinate model shop requests and support prototype part builds.
- Conduct tolerance analysis and develop design verification test plans.
- Utilize software tools such as SolidWorks, CREO, and AutoCAD to make drawing modifications in compliance with industry standards.
- Manage requests for product extensions, drawing changes, and engineering quotes.
- Facilitate the extension and costing of parts in SAP.
- Provide support for the Expanded Beam Product Line, contributing to changes and product extensions.
What Your Background Should Look Like:
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes.
- Proficiency in MS Office suite.
- Experience with SolidWorks, CREO, and AutoCAD.
- Demonstrated technical aptitude and eagerness to embrace new technologies.
- Self-motivated with a focus on achieving results.
