Requirements:

• Bachelor’s in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years of progressive enterprise network engineering experience with deep technical knowledge across multiple network technology domains with emphasis on Wireless Architecture
• Proven track record in designing and delivering large-scale wireless solutions for diverse business stakeholders.
• Extensive experience in wireless solution with IEEE 802.11 standards, encryption, WIDS, rogue detection, 802.1x, RADIUS, EAP Method, wireless client chipset/driver, RF engineering for wireless planning, along with multi-vendor technologies
• Experience in working with public cloud solutions such as AWS, Azure and GPC.
• Experience with network analysis and discovery tools
• Extensive experience with various wireless tools such as Spectrum Analyzer, Protocol Analyzer, and Site Survey Tools

About the Role

As a CSIRT Senior Engineer, you will apply your security knowledge, technical expertise and communication skills to provide expert analysis, leadership, and guidance during incident response investigations. You will embrace new challenges with a positive attitude, identify and proactively resolve security issues with confidence, and display a curious mindset while learning new technologies or techniques.  In addition to performing incident response, you will help to grow and improve Nordstrom’s security posture via cross-team collaboration.

To be successful in this position, you must be proficient with:

• Incident Response – You are highly effective at triaging and managing workstreams while working toward incident remediation.
• Leadership – You can function as a lead investigator and facilitate response involving multiple stakeholders under pressure while mentoring team members on nuances of incident response.
• Offensive Techniques – You are very familiar with the MITRE ATT&CK framework and real-world scenarios and use those inputs to effectively prioritize initiatives and remediations in the Nordstrom environment.

Minimum Qualifications

• Strong ability to write scripts/code using Python, Bash, PowerShell, or equivalent

• Advanced knowledge of digital forensics including memory and dead-disk examinations of Windows, macOS, and Linux systems

POSITION SUMMARY

Who we are -

We are Nordstrom Custom Special Order Team. We develop web based applications which are used by Salespeople in the stores to serve customers who need to order custom merchandise which are not available in the store. The salespeople record that requirement in the tool and use it to communicate information to Merchandising department, who then works with Vendors to procure that item for our customers.

Another application which we developed is a web based tool used to keep a record of inventory movement into and outside the full line stores, for inventory that is sold through a consignment business model. The application helps record the transactions that happen in stores and unsold items that are returned to the vendor.

We build out new features and experiences on the Java, AWS technology stack in an agile, team-oriented, and collaborative environment. We encourage innovation and expect developers to take a high level of ownership throughout the software life cycle.

• Strong knowledge of object-oriented design skills & knowledge of application design patterns.
• Strong knowledge of Java and Java Springboot framework. Knowledge of other programming languages (like Python, and JavaScript) is a plus.
• Experience with Backend Database RDBMS or NoSQL databases is required.
• Experience with RESTful architecture and microservices. JSON is required.

Job Description

This Senior Engineer role is on the Product Insights engineering team. We are a fast-paced team with the vision to change how Nordstrom & Nordstrom Rack leverage Insights for day-to-day decision making. We have back-end services natively deployed on the cloud (AWS).

You will get a rare opportunity to have a meaningful impact on the business and the technical strategy, with the possibility of fundamentally changing Nordstrom's way of decision making.

A day in the life…

• Responsible for feature design; evaluate designs and provide feedback
• Influence quality standards and understand, identify, measure across entire solution
• Identify performance issues and optimize solutions
• Demonstrate competence of engineering concepts and theories, combining them with business understanding to design, document and implement clean and robust solutions to complex business problems
• Collaborate with other engineering teams, business stakeholders, as well as program and product managers to define and implement technical solutions
• Demonstrate an ability to turn business needs into functional requirements, while also explaining technical details in ways the business can understand. Participate in defining, scoping, and estimating resulting stories
• Work closely with your peers, mentor junior developers and help the team achieve its goals
• Maintain a high bar for code quality, testing and automation while finding opportunities to continuously improve them
• Drive design and code reviews, ensuring the team ships high quality, scalable, maintainable, and well-tested code
• Maintain a DevOps mindset, promoting cloud-oriented solutions while implementing and supporting monitoring, alerting, CI/CD pipelines as well as the team’s Cloud infrastructure

We’d love it if you have…

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in an engineering discipline, preferably computer science, or equivalent
• 5+ years of professional experience in delivering quality software, ideally across the full stack
• Excellent proficiency in an Object-Oriented language, such as Java
• Proficient with Java, Java Spring Boot Framework, Containerization(K8s/Docker)
• Test automation experience at all levels (Unit, Integration, Regression, Load)
• Familiarity with modern infrastructure tools and pipelines (Gitlab CI/CD, Terraform)
• Experience with RESTful architecture and micro services
• Experience with system design, architecture, scaling, and performance testing. Experience building services a plus
• Experience with Cloud technologies, proficiency with AWS a plus
• Experience with databases like postgres. Familiarity with NoSQL databases is a plus
• Experience with Search technologies is a plus ( Elasticsearch /Opensearch)
• Familiarity with CI/CD and testing tools.
• Strong understanding of computer science fundamentals
• Familiarity with ops tools, logging, and metrics (New Relic, Splunk)
• Experience with messaging technologies and patterns (Kafka/SQS)
• Experience with Graphql is a plus
