STRUCTURAL DESIGN ENGINEER

EXETER, DEVON

Due to continued success in the region and the winning of new contracts, my client are looking to add to their impressive team with the addition of a Structural Design Engineer.

We are looking for a Design Engineer who has experience within the Structural/Civils arena. You will be working on a range of design projects, from extensions and restoration work on Castles and Churches, through to design works on residential properties worth £m's so the work will remain varied and very interesting!

If you're a passionate Structural Design Engineer wishing to craft out a successful and rewarding future in an established company, this could be the role for you.

THE ROLE:

• Working on a large variety of design projects using Autocad.
• Properties typically worked on are; Medieval churches in need of restoration and multi million £ coastal properties - doing both full property design and also partial design/conversion (designing a new roof etc.)
• Visiting sites where required, to ensure customers needs are clearly understand and accurate specification is produced.
• Carry out surveys and produce reports.
• Business moving more towards sustainable buildings, so you will have the opportunity to get involved with these projects.
• Provide quotations and proposals directly to customers.

THE PERSON:

BSc/BEng/MSc/MEng in civil and/or structural engineering

Minimum four years as structural design engineer IN THE UK - need to be familiar with UK regulations

Chartered structural engineer or near chartered status

Able to carry out surveys and produce reports

Working knowledge of structural timber

Experience dealing with customers directly

We are looking for an ambitious Mechanical Design Engineer. If you're a driven & highly motivated person wishing to craft out a successful and rewarding future in what is a truly unique environment, this could be the role for you. You will be working on a variety of projects, which range dramatically in terms of scale and value, it is not a role which will become boring.

THE ROLE:

• Working on design projects for customers, from cradle to grave.
• BOM.
• Accountable for all mechanical aspects of a project and provide technical guidance to customers.
• Attend specification meetings with global customers.
• Be aware of cost targets in design, purchasing, and assembly.
• Attend project meetings and update the Project Managers on engineering progress.

THE PERSON:

• Experience using SolidWorks or similar.
• Ability to design for manufacture and assembly.
• The ability to read and produce 2D production drawings applying GD&T where necessary.
• Problem solving and trouble shooting ability.
• Ideally possess an Engineering Degree, Minimum HNC

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

• Multi Skilled Background with an electrical biased
• Demonstrable understanding of Programme Logic Control (PLC)
• Manufacturing experience is preferred

• Knowledge of lean manufacturing practices & continuous improvement mentality
• Must have a recognised apprenticeship to ONC/HNC
